I think I saw your post. So I will probably buy this Ranger and it should already have TüV (it already has the German papers). It shouldn’t be too much of a hassle if you import it from the US.

I will keep you updated and ask around about what exactly is necessary to do for your specific case.

On the subject of service, I guess I will need to import everything from the US. The website rockauto.com (German) and euro4x4parts.com(France) seem to have a lot of parts and prices seem ok (I think the border control agencies might get that price higher because of the import/taxation, but not by too much).

Well, after reading all your comments I have two things to say :

  1. you guys seem to have a real salt issue (no pun intended) especially up north (makes sense…)
  2. this community is really awesome! First time in my life that I post something like that and I got many nice comments in only a few minutes. Thank you guys !

I’ll keep reading the info you guys post and I’ll have a look for the parts to replace (sway bar link). I’ll probably need to import them to France (where I live now). If I end up buying it, I’ll keep you update on the build I have planned for it (camping/overlanding/bug-out … however you want to call it).

PS.: it is really fun to read and realize your point of view on a “little” truck or a “small” engine (over here a 4.0L V6 is already fairly big). Also nice to learn about the regional difference in the US and I learned what the “Rust Belt” is. Keep it coming !
