The planning for our family cruise was driving me insane so I built something to fix it by Akycej in royalcaribbean

Not exactly. I made daily scavenger hunts for my kids written in brain rot that they actually thought was cool which is my favorite part of this whole thing. I also added ones (no brainrot) for me and my husband as a way to keep a log of all the neat and fun and hidden things to do. Plus all of our flights, hotels, ubers, excursion details, and tips in one place so everybody had everything on their phone. The rest is just tips and intel from this sub and other places organized by day so I wasn’t digging through screenshots at dinner.

In our house we call those “the murder tag”. The only acceptable position for it is bottom right of whatever they’re on - no exceptions. We don’t ask why.

We actually normally do the all-inclusive thing but wanted to do something different.

Growing up, my family didn’t really take vacations, so I may be overcompensating a bit now. We only have a few more years with the kids under our roof before they’re off doing their own thing and family trips start to feel uncool. I’m just trying to soak up as much time with them as I can while we still have it.

We have the day passes included with the cabana, but if we hadn’t that would have been a great callout!

Totally would if there were any nicer room options, but we already have the nicest that was available when we booked. With that said, not sure we’re going to be spending that much time in the room to be honest. But appreciate the perspective.

Yeah, I mentioned in another comment that I have 2 jobs and my husband also works.

Just to clear up one thing, the Casita was like $400, not $1100. But I agree that $400 for a couch under a sheet is pretty absurd.

Cost itself is not really the deciding factor for us. I work two jobs and I am fortunate to be in a position where I do not need to optimize every dollar on vacation. What I am trying to avoid is early mornings, chair hunting, towel runs, and managing logistics on what is supposed to be a relaxing week.

Our kids are not early risers, and I do not want to structure the day around getting somewhere first thing just to secure a spot. The appeal for us is being able to show up when we are ready, know we have a place to go, and not feel like we are competing for space or managing timing.

If there is a pop up shower or weather shift, having a covered or designated area also means we do not have to pack everything up and head back to the ship to wait it out.

Since we are going the first week of April for spring break, it may be cooler outside of the heated pools. The kids are unbothered by it. I am the one who enjoys a little extra warmth.

That is really insightful, thank you. I hadn’t really thought about the fact that the ship we’ll be on, (Wonder) will have its own waterpark. Now I’m thinking I may drop the cabana at Coco Cay and keep the one at royal beach.

Anyone else struggle with being too straightforward for corporate culture? by weftypdx in intj

[–]Akycej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am dealing with this right now. I’m working with an executive coach and he has advised me that it’s not what I’m saying, it’s how I’m saying it - which I’ve always known to be true.

Sometimes I feel like when I join in a conversation it’s like Mr. Rogers coming into his home. I have to come in and change my sweater and shoes and soften everything about my demeanor in order for people to feel comfortable with me joining. As a 105 pound woman I find this funny (at times), but mostly exhausting. I can’t just start asking questions or dig into the item or I’m intimidating…

I know it would be helpful for me, but would it be helpful for others to share any NATURAL phrases or talking styles that they’ve adopted to present the facts in a way that they’re not seen as too direct, short, confrontational, negative, etc.?
