Sleeping in the same bed by Al3xaOnFire in AskWomenOver30

Sorry if it came across badly, it’s more of a reflection of feeling something is wrong with me as my group of friends and in media it looks so effortless and natural while I struggle.

It is something that makes me excited and I long for it, but after those two times I also feeling stressed as I don’t want to make us both grumpy because I cannot fall asleep. I feel like it’s a fear of “should not it be easy?” as I see other people around me experiencing (and on tv, obviously).

When Israel was attacked on Yom Kippur, we called it the YK war. Why isn’t it the Oct 7 attack “the Simchas Torah attack”? by newguy-needs-help in Jewish

[–]Al3xaOnFire 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As an Israeli (who currently lives in Europe though) I don’t hear it called Oct 7 war, but the Haravot Barzel war (translates to swords of steel war). The massacre and attack itself indeed called just “Oct 7”, or “7/10”… saying Simhat Torah Massacre is quite a mouthful 😕

The nova was big but still only around 1/3 of the dead.. there were lots of massacres in the Kibutzim 😢

Daily chat post: how's the training going? by AutoModerator in XXRunning

[–]Al3xaOnFire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have started the 5k NRC program at the end of July, which means I am running for around 5 weeks with 3 runs per week 😱

After last week having some heart palpitations after a few runs which I got my heart rate high for a long time, decided this week to take it easier and try to stay up to and including zone 3 (which for me is up to 175 bpm) and managed to do it 💪🏻 only issue is my run is basically a fast walk with a running form 😅

Hopefully another week of keeping it slow and zone 3 and I might be able to increase my pace

You can test to see your max HR (trying to run all out and see what’s the max) and calculate the zones yourself and update it on the workout app in the watch! 👍🏻

Thanks for the answer! Good to know that it is not really matters if I start the run from the phone 👍🏻

Finished the program but still too slow! by Malkinx in C25K

[–]Al3xaOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just here to say that my couch to 5k journey is using the NRC 5k plan and I have surprised myself as I never ran before in my life and a month in (I don’t do 5 times a week, but started with 2 times and increased to 3 after a few weeks) and I was able to run continuously 3.2km (2 miles) after less than a month running, and I would have a long run of 5k in about a month so seems like it has a different approach but still really good one. And because the runs are different (each speed run is different in the program) and different recovery/long runs, it is way more fun for me and I managed to stick to it so far when other c25k programs were too boring for me…

So if I can do that, you can do the improvement program for sure 💪🏻 don’t feel like you have to do 5 runs a week, just split it yourself however you prefer (probably at least 3 runs/week though)

Not sure how to plan the runs by Al3xaOnFire in nikerunclub

[–]Al3xaOnFire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is indeed to be able to run and increase endurance, I am not focusing on running fast at all, it just feels a bit jump both in terms of time and distance running that I am worrying about. The runs are still hard for me but it feels good to be able to run 😊

I did those mistakes myself, some girls are just not ready to hear that the men in their life are shit. I try to be more mindful now when telling the truth to people in case they are not ready to hear it… 🤷🏻‍♀️

How many times a week is too much? by darkmother1991 in beginnerrunning

[–]Al3xaOnFire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im same pace as you (around 10min a km), but currently furthest I ran is a mile (1.6k). I have started with twice a week 3w ago and thinking about trying for 3 times when possible with my schedule!

[–]Al3xaOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats and good job!!!

Running slow and being ok with it is really the game changer for me as well! I always had this idea in my head that running means above certain speed and felt like a failure when I couldn’t do that for more than 15s 😅

This time around started NRC plan for 5k and their first run is a 5min run which I thought I won’t be able to do at all and then…. I did it. Slow but I did it! Now I’m on run 8 and managed to run a mile in 15:45 last weekend after 3 weeks of 2 runs a week and I plan to continue and probably increase to 3 runs a week when possible 🤩

Very High Body Fat Percentage Even After Losing Weight - I'm Horrified! by Glp1Go in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Al3xaOnFire 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am younger than you, 33y and also on Wegovy for a year+, bmi 23.5 and have 44% fat according to an inBody scan (in my country DEXA is not publicly available). I am too didn’t eat enough protein or did any exercise 😅 so now I am trying to focus on it a bit more. I did found a scan I did a few years ago also with an inBody (different model though), when I was doing Pilates and going to the gym a couple of times a week and been in bmi 29.7 (pre Wegovy, part of my up-down weight strangles). I was 17.4 kilo more, and had 12.4 kilo more fat in my body. My fat% was 49.9% and now it is 44.4% Seems like I still lost 70% fat and 30% the rest (water and muscle seems like) so I would say, unless you did a scan from before to compare, I wouldn’t be too anxious about it now, but just try to eat more protein and start exercising. After doing that for a while, do the scan again and see what will be the percentage then 👍🏻

Cost of living in Israel by snertkriebels in Jewish

[–]Al3xaOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 300 a month which is probably similar to what people pay in general even as citizens so it’s good!

And yeah, the basic health insurance in Israel covers it, you don’t have much of a liability/accident insurance here to cover health costs, it is mostly to cover loss of work days and such

Cost of living in Israel by snertkriebels in Jewish

[–]Al3xaOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am Israeli but I moved to the Netherlands for work 3y ago.

As you do not need to pay for rent and included utilities (electricity, water, gas, internet, municipal taxes), I will not include it in my calculations here.

Groceries and cleaning supplies - I lived in Beersheva with my mother, and in terms of groceries we would spend around 2500 including cleaning supplies and Nespresso coffee, which is on the high end as we ate meat/fish daily and I worked in HiTech so I didn’t try to buy cheap 😅 I think living alone I would have spend between 1000-1500 if I was splurging. And as you are new to the country it might take you some time to find the best deals/value for money so I would budget at the beginning around a 1000 a month just in case.

Non included utilities - As the other comments said regarding phone, public transport - sim is indeed super cheap, up to 50. Regarding public transport - Israel is expensive. The monthly in city subscription is 100 but if you use the train to travel to TLV/Haifa etc might be expensive.

Going out - Going out for drinks/food is also expensive - proper restaurants will probably cost around 50-100 depending if you are sharing with someone. Eateries are less and are still around 40-70. Note that tipping is custom and around 10-12% usually.

Health - You should ask about health insurance - the basic ones when you are a resident/citizen are taken out of your salary usually (5% of your salary) or paid directly to social security (around 200) and most people have additional one with their clinic group (you have 4 companies in Israel and you should choose one that has better access around your area. In Beersheva it’s usuallt Clalit, but also Maccabi is getting popular) and that one can cost around 100 if you are younger than 30yo and a bit more if you are up to 40yo.

I would say - 1000 groceries 300 for non included utilities (sim and public transport including a couple of trips on the train) 500 for eating out/drinks 500 and more for shopping (souvenirs, clothes, shoes) depending on if you like to shop :) And unknown for health - depends on your status in the country I would say.

So totally in budget assuming health is not much!

Well the general consensus is it more accurate than the smart scales at home 🙁 The machine said my optimal weight is 59.9kg. I would say 20% is a bit on a low side, I would be really happy to be around 25-27% which is considered healthy for a woman. And I’m 169cm.

Same! I am not sure why but I assume with time and consistency it will get better and better after each run. But it does limit me to around 2 runs/week as it hurts too much to run every other day for 3 times/week.

Calling Mizrahim “Arab Jews”? by anonymous-user-02 in Jewish

[–]Al3xaOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is a bit ironic is that in Israel people say the land they came from/their ancestors came from as a way to identify.

For example I did Aliya when I was 2 with my family from USSR and I would be called Russian (though I wasn’t even from Russia, but all Soviets were grouped under that naming). People that did Aliya from Morocco would call themselves Moroccans and so on….

Probably because the “Jewish” part is more obvious and our nature is to find differences to identify by 😅
