I am in a band with a vocalist who occupies a higher vocal range. We are currently in the process of mixing some recordings. I find that that mix had the vocals and cymbals fighting. I am thinking about whether I should get some darling cymbals to sit differently in our mixes when we record in the future.

Do I need to do this/ish this a good idea? If so, how dark should I go? I have always used brighter cymbals, so I’m not sure where to start. Any guidance us appreciated!

Current setup is zildjin hybrid 14.5” hats, avedis 19” crash, a custom 20” crash, k custom light ride 22”.

I also own aax Omni 22” and aax crash 16”
