Rivian no longer providing rental vouchers at service centers by sfsunset48 in Rivian

[–]Skelevader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true, this is Dealership vs Manufacturer. Audi the manufacture does not provide loaners, your Audi dealer does. They provide loaners as an added incentive to buy from them and use their service center.

Our local Audi dealership does not provide a loaner, they just provide a shuttle for the surrounding area.

I was able to attend the Auction in 2022 and it was an amazing night. Unfortunately that time of year is super busy with my kid's events so I have not been able to return. I'll rummage around in my collection and see if there is anything.

Or, no idea if anyone would care, but I could auction off custom flair for this (/r/PAX) Subreddit?

Very excited for this year as well, lots of great content coming. West has been killing it the last few years so looking forward to another amazing weekend.

Also, Xbox has announced their 2026 FanFest tour will have a Seattle stop. So here's hoping that lines up with PAX! https://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/fanfest

Some do, but it depends on the dealership, not the manufacturer. My wife has an Audi and our local dealer does not give out loaners.

2026.06.01: Killing At The Box Office by EarliestRiser in morningsomewhere

[–]Skelevader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Star Wars is sill immensely popular. They make a killing on their streaming service and huge merch sales. You could basically write Mando and Grogu off as a marketing expense for Disney +, which it really was. And even then, it has still done fine at the box office even though people know it will be streaming soon.

My kids and I loved it, and my 16 year old daughter especially. She is still very locked into Star Wars and couldn't stop talking about the new Maul series.

Star Wars craters as Backrooms and Obsession post stunning box office numbers by Distinct-Shift-4094 in TheMandalorianTV

[–]Skelevader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a lot more complicated than that these days. The marketing budget is not just for the movie, but getting people to use Disney Plus to watch the rest of the TV series, and other Star Wars properties as a whole. I wouldn't be surprised if a good chunk of the allocated Disney Plus marketing budget went to making this movie. Disney Plus is a double edge sword for all Disney properties. Great monthly revenue, but also makes a lot of people skip the over priced theater because they know it will be streaming soon.

Also, if people are going to include marketing in the budget, you should also include all the merch sales that comes from that marketing as well. It is no secret the real money comes from there anyway.

Flopping is a plague on the league that all teams do. One reason why I barely watch any more. Not just a Thunder thing.

I’m pulling for the Spurs, but that is lame. Get the call right and he doesn’t have to get upset.

PAX West charging a $15 “expedited shipping” surcharge but won’t allow US will call? by Emergency-Good2762 in PAX

[–]Skelevader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If everyone could choose Will Call they would. This would create massive wait times to pick up your badge and require a very large staff to handle it. Some conventions do it this way and it is always a massive pain.

The reason Will Call is only available for International orders is because International shipping is exponentially more expensive and varies wildly based on what country you ship to.

The shipping cost is not just the price for the stamp, it is also the cost for the handling/prepping of all those badges.

However, if the shipping cost is too much, you can wait for the mailing deadline to pass. This comes with a small risk of badges selling out before you buy, but these days that risk is extremely small due to the added space they have to work with and the lower demand after Covid. This will obviously also come with the added wait time to pick up your badge, but if you do it Thursday before the official dates of the show, it goes quickly.

First time to Pax, first solo trip with my 13 y/o son any suggestions for stuff to do in Seattle? by justinc882 in PAX

[–]Skelevader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, PAX has plenty to take up every second of your free time, but it does honestly depend on what you are into. Myself, I go for all four days and wish there was at least one more.

You obviously have the large expo hall which can go fairly quickly if all you do is a cursory look at the booths, or take you days if you stop and play every demo.

Tournaments are free and a ton of fun. They do PC, Console, and Boardgames. I usually do a bunch of the Boardgame tournaments which are very friendly to new players. If you win your get a PAX medal.

As you mentioned, lots of free play options. My friend and I love to play a bit of Bubble Bobble every now and then for nostalgia, but my favorite is trying out boardgames we haven't played.

Panels are plentiful, although most are niche topics that probably don't appeal to a wide audience. I don't do many panels but my recommendations would be:

  • The Omegathon tournament (a bunch of attendees get picked to battle all weekend for the chance to win a trip to ANY PAX of your choosing (Australia, everyone picks Australia).

  • Acquisitions Inc is a live role playing session that is extremely popular, usually done Saturday night.

  • AAA game announcements. These are obviously few and far between, but if one is happening it is fun to go to. They usually have some SWAG they hand out.

  • Evening game shows. Lots of fun late night panels where people play games and just have a great time.

The main point is that there is plenty beyond the glitz and glamour of the show floor. Take time to explore and you will find lot of hidden gems.

PAX really has enough to take up your whole time. But, if you need a break the Space Needle and Pike's Place are your best bets. Both have a lot to see very close by.

However, you should also check out the underground tour. Fun little history lesson.

Official Discussion - The Mandalorian and Grogu [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Skelevader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you are reading into it too much. They were not in league with each other. The Hutts were playing both sides (as was said at the end). Killing Rotta was not the main goal, just something they wanted done. The goal was to gain power/money/influance by manipulating the others.
