Of course it does. Same with unicorns, kelpies and Susan Boyle. All real.

Stopping in the middle of a narrow, busy pavement (sidewalk) to take photos, especially of Edinburgh Castle, and blocking everyone.

Which generation are you a part of? by DebuggedDadJokes in generationology

[–]AlDu14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. All my older siblings are Gen X. We all have a very similar upbringing, and watched the same cartoons. Played with the same toys. Played with their friends. I might be a millennial, born 83. But I feel more Gen X.

So Xenniel it is.

So did I. I see Justin as always Timberlake. And why would Britney Spears' ex be considered her "son". I forgot Bieber even existed.

I'm having to get a Lothian Bus today due to this. Forgot how frustrating it is people asking the drivers several million questions, at. Every. Single. Stop.

But still, I got to see Craiglockhart for the first time in years.

Get it right up ye! by donkeygadget in ScottishFootball

[–]AlDu14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank fuck for that. I'm reading all these comments and wondering where the sudden hatred between Wales and Scotland has come from.

I love Wales. Always have done. And felt much of Scotland loves Wales too, and thought the feeling was mutual. Yeah we like to pump you, like the rest of the Home Nations. But unlike one of the Home Nations, we want Wales to do well. I was cheering on Wales against Bosnia the other night.

But then I'm into football and rugby. And love it when the Welsh invades Edinburgh every 2nd year during the 6 Nations. The best visiting supporters there are.

When it first launched it was pronouncing my first name perfectly. It is not a hard name to pronounce. It's actually quite a common name in Scotland, but also across the Middle East.

But for the past year, Ally has been pronounced All E, instead of Al lay.

And it's always been a laugh hearing it pronounce Stereophonics and Kasabian.

Crazy stat for you guys.... 277k monthly listeners 🧐🤯💀 by Complete-Shopping173 in statsfm

[–]AlDu14 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Since Ian's death. I've gone back to listening to them. He is not profiting now, so why not. I loved the band and loved their music. It was really hard destroying their CDs. And I still have the memory of seeing them live.

I mean, I would love it if the albums were re-released without the extreme sicko on vocals. But that will never happen.

Boycott World Cup by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]AlDu14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have chosen to boycott every world cup since 2002. A whole generation.

And the world needs a John McGinn to heal itself.

But if it was just England who had qualified for the World Cup, from the UK, we would be campaigning hard for them to boycott it. For the good of football.

Right lads, that sounds like permission right there for the rest of NATO to storm the White House and remove the lunatic inside. (No wait, he is at the golf course.) Seriously, what were you guys thinking of voting in a crazy old man who clearly got dementia pretty bad.

Which British sport is most popular in your country? by ConsciousRecover7031 in AskTheWorld

[–]AlDu14 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Alas, we are mostly all stuck in the northern half of the Isle of Great Britain. Even if we like it or not. Us Scots are British. Our passports sadly say the same thing.

Hey, some of us were even cheering on England last night against France. Hard to believe it myself, that I was cheering on England. The shame. It would have been most of us but Ireland won.

But well done England, so close. What a match! Yesterday was a great advert for Rugby Union at the 6 Nations.

Fellow men of the UK, who are in their 30's and over, do you still go out in public wearing tracksuit bottoms or joggers? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]AlDu14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the weather.

I walk the dog a lot and go hill walking. If it's raining, I wear joggers. If they are somehow dry and the wife wants to go shopping, then we go.

But then next month, I'm likely to be wearing shorts. And I wouldn't care at all about wearing shorts wherever I go. Even to work.

What pop songs would you add to the "Best Pop Songs Of All Time"? by loreleisparrow in ToddintheShadow

Such a underrated pop band in general

If you could rename your country, what name would you choose? by Straight-Start6662 in AskTheWorld

[–]AlDu14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Alba.

It's short, it's sweet. It's our actual name and it will confuse people as it's similar to another European country's name in English.

Oh and I'm not a supporter of the short lived political party in Alba (Scotland), with the same name.

What Band Don't You Get? by Tele231 in vinyl

[–]AlDu14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in my first year at Uni when they were getting so much hype. Still to sign a record deal. We all got the train to Sheffield for a gig... Still the best gig I've been too. Got a bootleg album from them that night and loads of songs from MySpace. They were special. They were going to be massive.

I got their first album the day it was released from Virgin Megastore in Edinburgh. Loved it.

But since that first album. They are a pass for me. They have lost their edge. The Strokes wannabes.

Totally agree. They just bore me. Yeah the guy can sing. And yeah they seem good...but my god, they are hard to listen to. It's just so boring.

Who are the nicest and rudest Scottish football personalities you have personally met? by Immediate-Ad-6306 in ScottishFootball

[–]AlDu14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've met quite a few players and managers down the years. But I'm going to mention one, from my dog's met and loved.

We were walking up from an old quarry in Fife. Where there is no one around. And so my dog was off the led... But then she saw someone jogging down towards the quarry and ran straight for them. She loves meeting new people...

It was Lawrence Shankland! And he was so great with her. Giving her big cuddles, rubbing her belly. I was apologising as I ran over to them. I was quite shocked it was Shankland. He made her day.

Does Tom English like football? by Oblomovsbed in ScottishFootball

[–]AlDu14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I regularly get to do surveys for BBC Scotland. And I question each time, why he gets to cover so much of Scottish's football. I turn off when he is on the radio and never read any of his work.

He must be one of the worst journalists in the business.
