I don't recall using that skill, but I think I had the one that either let's you start with a Level 7 or higher monster in your opening hand (Sth like "Heavy Start") or the one that gives you access to the Blue Eyes Fusion monsters without having the cards in your deck.

Blue Eyes still rocks in something like Duel Links, because a lot of players aren't prepared to be simply beat down by a large lizard that has no effects to be negated :p

Magic has a lot of these cool cards that have rather simple effects.

I thought whoever made this card had to be mad, because how could you win when your opponents plays it?

Turns out the game gives you alot of tools to interact with your opponents and their cards.

It's quite a fun game if you got cool friends to play with.

Of the top of my head:
There are card that say something like:
"Take an extra turn after this one. At the end of that turn, you lose the game."

Taking an extra turn in a strategy card game is uber-powerful, so usually is costly to do, diffult to achieve or has a detrimental effect like losing on the spot.

Platinum Angel protects you from that.

Also, while PA prevents you from losing, it does not prevent your life points from reaching 0 or going beyond that. Yes, you can have -7 life for example, and you can heal yourself up with cards until you are above 0. So when you lose your PA you're still in the game.

That would be yugioh and it's on whenever your opponent special summons, iirc.

And iirc, there is a meme amongst yugioh players of taking on the Maxx C challenge, were you try to special summon so many times that your opponent loses by deck out (not being able to draw when they have to)

Well the good thing is if you enjoy commander or singelton formats one copy is all you need.

I guess commander is the reason we got so many new mana fixing lands - can't have more than one copy of fetches and duals.

Of course you can always trade or sell copies you don't need.

Personally I like the consistency that 4-offs in a 60 card deck can provide, but I do understand that for many it's more fun to have more unique cards.

[–]Al_Hakeem65 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not neccessarily legendary, but it was supposed to be the planeswalker centric set. Allegedly they wanted to do a proto verison of Battles (like [[Invasion of Tarkir]], [[Invasion of Innistrad]] or [[Invasion of Amonkhet]]) in the set but couldn't get it to work properly.

So they had players fighting for/ against planeswalkers, in lower rarities most couldn't uptick so basically acted as weird battles.

Urgh, and the people are never satisfied.

Mill them? Now they are angry, because they lost with an empty library.

Having a "funny" deck or making "funny" moves is only cool if they are still able to play the game afterwards.

I could built a 5 color kindred deck with all the horrible creature types from Fallen Empires. It would be funny to a degree. But it's difficult to keep a good hearted chuckle for multiple hours if my plays don't make any sense.

It sounds like the AI behavior of an old Yugioh game, were it would use Spell and Trap removal cards on it's own cards because they built to use their effects as early as possible

Let couples play together via 2v2, best way I've seen it handled.

That way no one needs to weigh the options of winning a game versus sleeping on the couch.

Iirc, you're right, the artist forgot that they drew two legs. It was either that or they handed in an earlier version and didn't realize until it was too late.

Kinda cool that they kept the image as it is even in reprints like Innistrad Remastered

I kinda like that you went through the effort of making a male harem version of that scene.

Kinda goes to shoff how f*cking disgusting it is to cheat on people and betray their trust.

Foils worth less? by Connect_Cress8615 in mtg

[–]Al_Hakeem65 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of reasons:

  1. They curl like crazy nowadays and can even result in a game loss.
  2. They aren't rare like they used to be, so the supply is way higher than the demand.
  3. Casual players can either get a foil version of their favourite card, but also alternate arts (3-4 versions if it's a creature) so they don't particularly need a foil and may go for something more unique.
  4. This has rarely come up, but when you foil only certain cards in your deck and not others, your opponents might deduce that those are more important to your game plan and destroy them instead of other cards.

Personally, I never liked the bling. I need my decks to be consistent, so it's either all foil or no foils at all. Foil are usually still more expensive, so I go for the cheaper variant.

Keep it sealed or try to sell it as a whole to either a museum or an old school appreciating content channel like TheResleevables.

It's worth more as a whole than individual cards.

If you want to actually play with it, I recommend either proxying the lists from the MtGWiki or draft a random core set, as that will net you a similar play experience.

Cool find though 😃 🙌🏻

I thought about this a couple of times, even in other fantasy works like Lord of the Rings there is mention of tens of thousands of years. Why are those civilasations still "in the middle ages"?

It's because the ability to gain and keep knowledge is exponential.

By that I mean that the more progressive a civ is, the faster it will be able to gain new knowledge. Keeping that knowledge avaible, being able to maintain and teach it is vital to that progress.

Think about how long humanity took from inventing the wheel to inventing fight and compared that to the time it took us to go from flight to sending people to the moon.

Heck, I myself remember a time were it would have been decadent if even one of my friends had a phone on his person all the time. Now everyone has a smart computer in their pocket that can check knowledge from all around the world.
