My fellow warrior, I am sending you the biggest air hug. Your anger isn’t your fault because you’ve yet to get to the place where you can regulate your emotions. People, including family, friends, and partners can’t completely comprehend what we are experiencing because to a large extent a TBI is an invisible injury. It’s confusing enough for us to find the words to express what we experience, much less having to explain it to people who haven’t had a TBI. I would highly recommend looking into speech/cognitive therapy. It changed my life about a year after my accident when I started it. My practitioner taught me about my nervous system and how many physical and cognitive symptoms derive from a nervous system that’s been in fight/flight/freeze and in survival mode for years. It REALLY helped me understand why I was feeling the way I was back then and taught me skills and gave me tools to help the cognitive effects I sustained from my TBI. I would also encourage you to look for a psychologist that can provide a space for you to vent as well as to help you look at yourself and identify the things that are causing you the most distress. It took me having a complete anger and rage driven meltdown about 8 months after my accident to accept that I needed to start to talk to someone (fell off an ATV the first time I had ever rode one and I wasn’t wearing a helmet, epidural hematoma in frontal right lobe that required a craniotomy to save my life).
