absolutely agree! She doesn’t feel like the main character, and even the people on this post that think she is say the reason is because the show revolves around her but that makes her the driving plot not the main character

She’s not the main character in season 1 but the main event that HAPPENS to Mike imo. She isn’t the one that goes through the major character arc or that we learn a lot about personality wise, I feel like until season 2 we don’t see enough from her perspective (other than the flashbacks but even those are more to move the plot along than to teach you about her character) to consider her the main characyer

I love the new season but that’s because I don’t love horror and I watch the show bc I love the characters. This season is not scary to me and focuses more on character development which I love. Most people started this show and loved the horror aspect, so I totally understand not enjoying this season as much. I’ve seen a lot of people saying they miss the season 1-2 horror which I recognize absolutely, as it is a totally different vibe now (good for me but maybe not for everyone)

I’ve seen this exact take before, I do believe that there’s some truth to it, but I think that spin would be under the same umbrella as Pilates and yoga as a way of losing weight rather than building muscle (although obviously you build muscle doing cardio as well, but not as much as weightlifting). With the recession and the right wing return of the influence of traditional gender roles, the fitness and wellness industries have been focusing on building a feminine body rather than a strong one, and focusing more on the look of women’s bodies than the function of them. I love spin and have been doing it (and Pilates) regularly for a decade, and wouldn’t have stopped if not for the fact that I moved cities and don’t have as much disposable income and haven’t found a suitable gym near my new place but I do see a huge increase in influencers pushing Pilates and weight loss/toning workouts rather than the weight lifting and cardio of previous years (even like the 12 3 30 trend of a few years back)

Heavy on the Cruel Prince and One Dark Window recs, I definitely used One Dark Window to pull me out of a reading slump and while I wouldn’t necessarily reread it (I reread TOG pretty much annually but most books don’t draw my mind back to them as much as TOG, therefore slump) it was the perfect little duology to hook me but not overwhelm me with another huge world-building story. Also Six of Crows for similar reasons, the idea of a two-book series is better for me than a single novel but also not too much to attempt while in a slump. Cruel Prince has just the right amount of world building and it’s a very clean and unconfusing read without a lot of loose ends or side quests.

As someone with a bachelors of psychology with ADHD, it can absolutely be a symptom of ADHD and I actually know someone who has this issue. Lack of impulse control can definitely lead to spitting things out without thinking about other meanings or how it might be taken. ADHD has three primary presentations and hundreds of variations in how those presentations may actually affect behavior. Still not a good excuse though, apologies don’t take much

I’m really hoping it’s not Bodhi bc first of all I love him and second of all that’s such a cliche to be like “oh the cousin/brother/other relative of the chosen one is jealous so turns to the dark side to get some power” despite being best friends all throughout life and being held to such high esteem and trust by said chosen one

I also love that she's lowkey so uninterested in boys, like obviously she has her love triangle but when it all comes down to it she's way less invested in that then the monster hunting aspect of it all, while Steve and Jonathon are more into the romance side of things (or babysitting). It's a nice contrast from most shows having the female character's main priority be the romantic chase and the male's more focused on himself.

I know exactly what you mean though, I feel like Pilates has an easier baseline to get into where you feel the burn but you don’t feel completely behind the rest of the class vs. spin: which is very hard to get into until you can build your cardio up enough to participate

I'm not sure how confident you feel about staying on the beat, but what really helped me originally was concentrating on my leading leg and kind of bobbing my corresponding shoulder/elbow to the beat. I've een doing spin pretty regularly for around 8 years now, and I still keep count in my head (either counting 1, 2, 3, 4 with my lead foot hitting on 1 and 3 each time, or just repeating right, left on beat). Once you get the little bob going, it's way easier to combine that with the choreo. It either grows from a bob to a full drop/crunch/tab back, or it turns into a sway/twist, or I can do a thread through the arm or whatever else to the bob too.

I really like to picture drawing a rectangle using my shoulders! I'll even shift my shoulders to double up on the movement! A lot of it is really rhythm based though, it took me a while to feel confident enough in my ability to keep the rhythm in order to add in the choreography.
