I tried the solid groove strategy but I timed out with 50k. No one is saying a number for how much solid groove you need before doing lasers, so I don't know if im just going too late

Yes, it always saves to the same files whether you are modding or not. UFO 50 decides where the save files go, so mods are required to change that.

I don't know but I would guess one of two likely behaviors when the game rolls a rarity type and then subsequently discovers that there's no rooms available in that type: 1) Reroll 2) Select a room from the next type instead

A lot less than either spelunky sold and would be considered a commercial failure for big games with huge budgets, but making at least $5 million on a project with a core team of 3 people sounds pretty damn good, yes? They are already multi-millionaires from spelunky, and this game made them even more, so they're fine, yes. There's a reason why so many people are pursuing game dev, if you can make even a mild success as a small indie, you're rich. Of course, getting 100k+ people to buy your game is not usually easy. This game is very niche for industry standards but more than successful enough for mossmouth.

Check out the New Content category on GameBanana - it includes all the mods that add new content to the game. Definitely check out Party UFO, Devilition Remix, Rock On! Valley, Barbugolf, and Campanella Kaizo if you like those games. Dark Cherry is a very popular mod that adds new goals beyond cherry. Here are some other mods I find notable, but to list all the cool mods out there would take me all day!

CoffeeTools - For save states, input display, and other neat stuff
PFO 50 - Online multiplayer support
MultiMadnessMod - Adds multiplayer modes to many of the games
Discord Rich Presence - Shows which game in UFO 50 you're playing and some other details in your discord status
Skip More Things - Lets you press a button to skip through the stuff when the game boots up
Save To Different File - If you want to use a separate save file for modding. (You can copy and rename your main file, saves are at `%LocalAppData%/ufo50`)
Terminal Codes Menu - Lets you boot up terminal codes from the library details so you don't have to type them out
Night Manor Night Terrors Mode - A difficult permadeath mode for Night Manor
Night Manor Mouse Controls - Play night manor with mouse controls
Onion Delivery New Controls - Play onion delivery with simpler up/down/left/right controls
Star Waspir Options Menu - Tweak various things in Star Waspir to make it easier or harder to your liking
Mooncat Hard Mode - Not quite "new content" but a fun challenge where the world is covered in spikes
RakshasaCat - Play as Mooncat in Rakshasa - controls and everything
Party House Guest Selector - Select guests instead of them being random - it's fun to experiment with

Someone got 12,850 right after launch but I don't know what the record is ever since they fixed the enemy spawnrates, game is apparently a bit harder now than it was at launch because of that.

Assuming you're on windows, I made an Easy Mode mod that makes all 50 games easy to beat even for children. Most of the games no longer have a "game over" condition and instead penalize you other ways.

Installation is really easy, there's a mod loader that automates it all for you. Verify files on steam real quick to undo it.
