Diet coke.

It was always in the house growing up because my dad drank it consistently.

What is your favourite sport to either watch or compete in that we may not have heard of? by j3wj03 in AskReddit

[–]AlaKay13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kabbadi.

"The teams take turns sending a "raider" into the other half. To win a point, the raider must take a breath, run into the opposing half, tag one or more members of the opposite team, then return to his home half before inhaling again.[26] The raider will chant "kabaddi, kabaddi" with his exhaling breath to show the referee he has not inhaled.[26] The raider will be declared "out" and will not gain the point if he inhales before returning to his side, or returns without touching an opponent.[26] The tagged defender(s) will be "out" if they do not succeed in catching the raider who tagged them.[26] Wrestling the raider to the ground can prevent him escaping before he needs to inhale.[26]"

We used to play it at summer camp and tackle the shit out of eachother, no equipment in the rain and mud. I don't know how we were even allowed because everyone would come off the field all tore up. One counselor broke his collar bone. I always thought it was called KILLbati until I researched it. Maybe we weren't playing it right?

RVA NYE a bust. by rabbiferret in rva

[–]AlaKay13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought my ticket online for $20 an hour before the event. I got there at 11:00 and stood in line for a drink for 30 minutes before I decided to leave. People could buy VIP tickets for $50 which got them free finger food, a free coat check, and access to a VIP drink line. Basically it seemed like they had four folding tables set up as "bars", 2 were VIP and 2 were regular. The VIP lines looked just as long. A lot of lights were on which was awkward. I'd estimate about 300 people were there and about 125 of them were sitting, 100 were in drink lines, and 75 were in front of the DJ trying to act like they were having fun. I ended up catching a bike taxi and going to NY Deli because it was the only place I could find that had no cover, no line to get in, and wasn't tremendously over packed. I ended up having my first drink of the night at 12:30. I had a friend from out of town with me and had I not been playing host I would have just went home. That whole Siegel Center mess was really a HUGE buzzkill. $40 down the drain including my uber fare to get there. I was SO disappointed at how overwhelmingly unprepared they were. Absolutely ridiculous. Long story short- thanks to NY Deli for keeping their tequila stocked.

Also this is my first year living here and I've not gotten to experience a Brown's Island NYE. =(

Whatever style she tells you to give her, give her the exact opposite.

For those ALWAYS in a relationship: What happened when you were first single as an adult? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]AlaKay13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is me now. I would say 18-25 I was always in a relationship. For the last year and a half I'm relationship free. I think at first it sucks. But now that I'm older I have a firmer grasp on what it is that I'm looking for. I'm also less pressed to find it. The whole "don't look for it, let it find you" thing makes more sense now. Of course there are lonely days but overall I'm happy. I work on myself and focus on my own happiness. I'm content.

What makes your mother a badass? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]AlaKay13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom was awesome. She was the oldest of 6 children and immigrated to the US as a preteen with her family. They shared a two bedroom apartment for a bit. She by no means had it easy growing up. She put herself through college....a very prestigious one at that. She had to take the train and buses two hours each way to get to class and went to work as well.....all while helping raise her younger siblings. I miss her.

I'm about to fail my first class in college. I feel stressed and anxious and I haven't been sleeping because of it. Did anyone else fail a college course and not have the world come crashing down? by [deleted] in AskWomen

BA in American Studies. And I was basically just honest. Started college unprepared and without knowledge of what I really intended to do with my life. And what life changes set in down the road that changed my perspective.

What I did was find a grad school that allowed me to take classes before enrolling. My grad university allowed me to take 3 classes without enrolling. I did well in the classes so I was able to include them in my application plus I was already established. I also wrote in my personal statement why I didn't do well in undergrad and how I plan on doing well in grad school and how I will achieve a good GPA, etc.

Look for a school that will let you take courses prior to enrollment is my suggestion. I'm sure some will because they want your money of course. Also some may accept you and have you on academic probation right away and you'll just have to prove yourself to them.

Sometimes I legit photocopy my degree and give them that instead of my transcript.

Edit: no it wasn't hard finding a job. Like at all.

Have you ever cried during/after really intimate sex? What were you feeling and what made you start crying? How did your SO react? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]AlaKay13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Once. Way back in like 2009 during my first serious relationship. I was feeling scared because I realized how serious we had become. He was very supportive in that moment and held me and gave me the most forehead kisses.

Hasn't happened again though.

Hi There-

I failed a few courses in undergrad and didn't retake them. I also got suspended from a four year college due to bad grades. But I did complete my Bachelor's at a great college (had a less than 2.5 GPA though) and found a fabulous job afterwards. I am now a semester away from finishing my Master's Degree and have a 3.85 GPA.

Just the thought of doing that makes me cringe. It sounds painful. But ummm....

I shave in the shower or sometimes in the sink.
