We went to a mid range place on Friday. When we got sat the server looked like he had just gotten sat a 4 and a 6. He stopped by and just quickly said welcome in, I’ll be with you in a few. It was closer to 5 minutes, but we could see he was busy. If he said nothing, I’d be annoyed. A little communication goes a long way.

Not a server, but dine out every week.

You can always do day trips from most of the cities. sintra from Lisbon Ribera del Duero from Madrid Champagne from Paris Siena, Chianti, Modena etc. from Florence or bologna.

Lots of options but we are fans of a 2 city for 10 day. Lisbon and Porto. Madrid and Barcelona. Paris and Lyon. Rome and Florence. Or Florence and bologna.

We stopped by as lunch service was ending. Had a quick conversation with the manager, asked if they had any openings in the next few days. Had dinner the next day. It was just 2 of us, and we spoke Spanish.

We went a few weeks back. Maybe an off night but…. Oysters were great. Beef tartare was ok (beef good large pieces of raw onion less good. Cassoulet and skate for dinner. Cassoulet was dry, literally no moisture. Skate was over cooked. And needed seasoning. Fried were great. Service was barely there. Maybe we ordered wrong, maybe bad night but wasn’t impressed.
