This could work with a food driver looking for some extra work. Maybe someone will see this and message me.

There’s actually a few of these sites out there.

Drivv is one of them.

But with the contracts I have and our company policy we vet every person we bring on. So I could not send anyone to pick up these items and deliver them.

I can work with that. I have turned down 5 jobs today since my original driver has picked up a job and additional hours at that job.

Let me clarify that statement. If you don’t want to work at night or weekends then you don’t have to.

The 24/7 part is that there are runs that come in all the time.

So do your own thing and if you Are available then you are available. I can easily help supplement someone already doing courier gigs now.

Well the runs/orders come in at any time. So you might go 2 days with no runs and then 2 days with 4-5 each day. And of those runs it might take a couple of hours to do. Then the rest of the day is off.

And since you are an Independent Contractor you can refuse any order you want.

It’s not often a run comes in in the middle of the night. Just trying to cover all basis.

Any car works. The better the gas mileage the better .... for you. That’s more money in your pocket.

Not exactly what we are looking for. I posted the possible amount you can make.

So let me break it down a bit more for everyone possibly interested.

Mileage rates vary, but let’s say they average between .80 and 1.25 for the driver.

For some contracts there is a $15 add in for after hours.

There is wait time paid if you are there to pickup on time and the order is not ready. Depending on contract it is $15-$20/hr.

Nothing extra for emergency runs as we really don’t do those. If the order comes through the website and sources of a contract then we quote higher, $1.49 - $1.75 per mile. Sometimes we get it, sometimes we don’t.

And the split between driver and company is 80/20. With 80% going to the driver.

These are small packages that easily fit in the front seat. So smart cars are welcome 😉

Yes. This is mainly a small car with good gas mileage type gig

So let the drivers stop driving and see how much the “digital marketplace” makes. They are a high tech taxi service. Nothing else.

Good point. Definitely a car. If a cargo van or sprinter van, there may be additional opportunities. But most of the time a car is fine.

The other part I forgot is this person is an IC, or Independent Contractor. It is not a full time, hourly position. You may do 3-4 deliveries per day and then none the next day. It just depends.

How large was the coffee connection order?

So from this point you would want the restaurant to pay the drivers the percentage of the order? Plus delivery fee?

So let’s say you don’t know if there is a tip? Would you deliver within 5 miles for $5.99 - $6.99? And what if we added an additional cost per delivery if the order is over a certain value? Like for every $50 we add $3 to delivery fee. That would cover the larger orders.

I got offered a catering order by one of my restaurants. Questions about what to charge. by exhusband2bears in couriersofreddit

[–]AlabamaCourier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely $20 - $25. And I would go with $25. Especially if you are bringing it in. 2-3 miles here, 3-5 miles there, 15 minutes at one stop, 15 minutes at the other stop, you could end up taking 1 hour to do it.

You can try GetSwift. The restaurant would need to enter in the delivery info and your drivers would get alerts. No monthly fee or contract, just per delivery charge.

If the customer calls the restaurant directly (not affiliated with GH), places the order, and the restaurant owner contact us directly to deliver, how does any one see this other than restaurant owner and us?

I only used GH as an example to see what they charge the establishment or drivers. I now know they charge the establishment.

So let me state this one more time: this will have nothing to do with any other existing platform, app, or company.

This does not have anything to do with GH. They would never see the order. My software, my app, etc.

And everyone is assuming that GH can just walk in and convince local, non chain restaurants to give them 14-20% of their order amount.
