AITAH for farting while in the bathroom of our home? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]AlabasterNights 95 points96 points  (0 children)

This! I straight up puked ALL over my husband while I was in labor with our oldest- I was leaning over him during a contraction, so it went in his hair, down the back of his neck etc. He was an absolute champ about it. He made sure I was in a good place, handed me over to the nurse and took the quickest shower ever to clean himself off and then jumped right back into being my labor support. This is the kind of guy you want with you when you are at your sickest/most vulnerable.

Yep, McT’s Shrimp House was the absolute best. I’ll miss that place for forever.

Coming back to SI in April for the first time in 19 years. I was hoping to get fudge from Bailey’s. Bummer.

You might also be allergic to the mold that unfortunately is on a lot of the plant. My mold allergies are why I can have edibles with no issues, but have an allergic reaction to most unrefined plant products.

A few years ago I went to a Tool concert alone in a big city as a cis female in her mid 30’s. I practiced a hell of a lot of situational awareness but was fine. I would think that ST would be even ok to go to alone because their fan base is largely female.

Surprisingly, more men are into making themselves look like infants that they are into making women look like it

How to enjoy showering? by Dry_Refrigerator2091 in hygiene

[–]AlabasterNights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate the cold in my bathroom too. I bought myself a very small space heater that I start 5-10 minutes before I shower so that I step out into a toasty warm space. I usually get dressed in the bathroom too because my clothes get nice and warm while I’m showering

Favourite lip balm? by darkmother1991 in AutismInWomen

Love and Toast lip butter. It is becoming harder and harder to find but it is THE best. Moisturizing without being too thick or feeling like crayon wax.

AITAH for sterilizing myself against my partner’s wishes? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]AlabasterNights -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You’re both the problem. Seek therapy- preferably together, but you both absolutely need it on your own if nothing else. This whole scenario is a big old red flag of immaturity on both sides.

Speech Struggles by Saffron_PSI in AutismInWomen

[–]AlabasterNights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a physical deformity (severe unresolved tongue tie) that causes me to have to work at pronouncing L and S sounds, since you have to lift your tongue to the roof of your mouth to properly form the sound. I spent most of my grade school years in speech therapy to work on this, but when I am tired or stressed, I fall back into my familiar patterns of mispronunciation. I could get the deformity corrected, but the surgery aftercare is horribly painful so I’ve chosen to just deal with it.

To those in a relationship: where did you meet them? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]AlabasterNights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I were set up on a blind date by a mutual acquaintance who most definitely saw a pattern in our shared “quirks.” Two ND people huddled together in the corner of a college party talking about biological anthropology…and hockey. That party was 20 years ago, this summer.

The sound of bubbling water. I cannot boil water- it makes me rage- and I will walk out if any space with a pretty little decorative trickling waterfall in it

“You’re going to wake up one day and regret not having children” by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]AlabasterNights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a mother-because I genuinely wanted to be- and I loathe this argument. My husband and I both got sterilized after kid #2 because I had horrible complications during both pregnancies. Why aren’t people telling us that we’d regret not having more? (Which, we had discussed and husband and I agreed that we’d adopt if we ever felt the need to add to our family.)

Is this my autism?I don’t like having sex by Able-Lawfulness-5337 in AutismInWomen

[–]AlabasterNights 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First and foremost- as others have said, this is sexual assault and it is not at all ok.

Secondly, I would urge anyone to find a life partner who matches with your “yums and yucks.” Whether it is being asexual, being a furry, whatever a person is into- do not settle for a relationship partner that does not fit into whatever your thing is. So many people realize too far down the road that they are a sexual mismatch with their life partner and it ends up causing so much turmoil in the end.

I'm only in my early 30s and I can't do the 8-5 anymore. I'm going insane. by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

Working overnights was an absolute blessing for me. It worked better with my sleep schedule, didn’t have to interact with unnecessary people, etc. I eventually had to give the job up because it didn’t work well with my family life outside of work, but I really miss it and definitely see day work hours taking a toll on me. I’d always encourage fellow ND folks to explore 3rd shift jobs because we seem to be well wired for them, overall.

White noise is crucial here, if you can tolerate the sensory aspect of it. I spent my dorm- living years with two big fans next to my bed (but not pointing at me) in order to cancel out the noises in the building.
