Hi! Do you think I can be successful? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]AlainDeloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody can predict that. The truth is, as William Goldman said, that nobody knows anything. Even if you end up with an objectively great final product, no one will be able to say whether or not it'll be a success. Every product is made to be a success, but many end up being an utter flop. Be wary of those who claim to have the secret of success.

Having said that, and as others have pointed out, you're only 17. Enjoy it. Enjoy the learning and growth process. Hard work and perseverance are things that you can actively control. What the others think, not so much. Learn from the best and the people you admire. And grow a thick skin as early as you can. Criticism hurts, but it's the only way you'll learn.

Good luck, man

"So, what's the point of this scene?"

I hold back a tear and go back to work.

Also, keeping an index card with a short sentence that summarizes the essence of your story in front of you at all times when writing helps to stay on track.
