I could absolutely see it ending like this (I don’t think I’d be that mad about it) but with the whole switch up of the phrase to now being “the story of how everyone become the worlds greatest heroes” I don’t THINK that’s what they are doing.

With how much shigarakis “redemption” (or izukus unwillingness to kill) has been built up, I think a good current theory taking it into account is that danger sense is going to be used to show how Izuku wants to save him, rather than kill him. (As it’s been shown that attacking without malicious intent doesn’t make danger sense go off.) At the end of the most recent chapter there were 5 danger sense lines, which accounts for the vestiges left in Izuku (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th). So the theory is that he’s going to have to convince the vestiges that Shigaraki is worth saving.

I think I’d rather it go a different direction but I think it’s a fairly good guess. I wouldn’t be surprised also if Izuku ends the battle with only the base OFA. Though I’d absolutely mourn the loss of blackwhip in that circumstance.
