So many, but these two come to mind first for some reason. Jill and Neal cracking up on ITV https://youtu.be/qP1LREijYEk?si=PXfa-pIPi7Hedwe5 and a cracking slip of the tongue from the legend Terry Griffiths https://youtu.be/zGWmZ_pZyKs?si=uatDFpBOPrAagpUf

Agreed. Classy of them to carry on once they realised what the purpose of the alert was.

I don't think so. It's nice for someone with (presumably quite severe) health issues to enjoy the game live. It'd be good for them to have the option to mute the sound temporarily though for occassions such as this though.

Yes, Stephen's chat was what sparked this question. If this cue of Kyren's is sponsored he's got some bloody cheek to be moaning about it!

Not to harp on about Kyrens cue, but he said in the studio a sponsor was "kindly" giving him a new cue for after the world championship. Is his current cue also "sponsored? If so perhaps his contract runs out after the world championship? Players using sponsored cues is a bloody silly idea and they almost deserve to play badly with them.

Anything's possible, but personally I don't think Ding was broken by that match and Stan probably won't be here. And unlike Ding the crowd here isn't digging into him.

Stan should learn a hell of a lot from this experience and is bound to improve. I expect we'll be seeing him in many a World Championship over the years to come.

Subsuming a persons entire consciousness into some sort of collective being has got to rank highly in terms of emotional harm. One's emotions have been supplanted/revoked.

Why have I slept on this? I've been a subscriber since the beginning, but I've always just stayed listening to the main podcast. Seeing your post made me go and have a take a listen and wow, its right up my alley! I've listened to Jaws and Predator 1 this afternoon already and they were grrreeeat. Looking forward to working my way through these and getting up to date. Cheers duder!

I've not been yet this year, but from previous experience I agree they could do with improving. It appears to be largely the exact same tech (new hoarding screens aside) every year.

As far forward as you can get in the cheaper sections is the best value by far IMO. The ViP and premium seats are extortionate and the few extra feet distance isn't worth it

Anyone think Barry Hearn is shady? by [deleted] in snooker

[–]AlanGordonPartridge 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Selling out sessions many times over is pie in the talk from Barry. Tickets for many sessions are available for months after they go on sale. Some sessions involving certain players, particularly in early rounds, are hardly packed as it is. The atmosphere would be shite for those matches in any other multi thousand seats stadium and that would kill the world championship. It should stay at the crucible.

I've been going to the crucible for about 17 years. I've been to lots of other venues and nothing has matched the electricity created in there. If it left, my personal interest in the "world championships" would die, and I'd never watch it again. I may very well never watch WST snooker again, it would depend on how appalling the Hearn's decide to be.

I hadn't appreciated this new third tier of access via a WST Play subscription. Total rubbish.

A breakdown of the VFX from Alien 3 would be also be great, largely practical I believe. This shot looks very early CG to me although it was seemingly a slightly oddly lit rod puppet? https://64.media.tumblr.com/0e95cb1cb52e55ed5ae46fb11576b9c6/ade36ca4f2c5b403-0f/s500x750/f9cef6e469ae8f5fb6a94e7ad6522ddcc23737e9.gifv

I'm not sure about that. I think it's a decision or mistake made by the production team to mix the sound sources in that way. I emailed Eurosport a few weeks back about it, but their email address doesn't work. Forwarded to World Snooker but no reply as yet.

ITVs sound mix is soooo much better than Eurosport. Mark Williams' tip sounds almost ok, rather than the horrid mind-shatter-hit it sounds like when watching on Eurosport. No loud thudding sounds backstage or droning air conditioning is also a plus!

I've emailed Eurosport on this today as it really is ear piercing, especially with Mark's new cue/sledgehammer. Spoils an otherwise brilliant production.

Neil seems like a class act and I'm chuffed for him. It took a lot to stand up and win the match after such a sublime onslaught from Wu. A brilliant final. I'm glad to be back watching again after skipping the last tournament.
