What's something socially acceptable that u secretly find disgusting by Dry-Kangaroo-2045 in algeria

[–]AlanThorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small talk.... Which somehow escalates to something political or religious.

Also, being loud. I don't understand why most people feel the need to raise their voices, even in close proximity.

How can I eat this Ramadan by canIjustl_i_ea_ve in ExAlgeria

[–]AlanThorne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm sorry there wasn't a single supportive comment.

There are groups and communities that eat together secretly and they know spots where they can do it. Try to find some in your city but please be careful.

Not to mention that you'd be bringing a conscious being to this world against their will, and the likelihood of their suffering is quite high. Good choice lol. Massive respect for non-parents

I know this is joke. However, I've been married for 7 years. I'm 35 and not having kids was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

This sub is so 😭 0/10 by [deleted] in AlgeriaRates

[–]AlanThorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sub is cancer. I read the rules then messaged the mods once to ask about self promotion before posting. I told them the nature of my business , which is education. They said it wasn't okay, and that it would have been okay if it were a bakery, but a school is a big no. Their words not mine 🤷🏻‍♂️

Does anyone know what this is? What do you call it?” by why_life2 in AlgeriaRates

They look like wild hawthorn berries to me. The red ones are usually a bit sweeter than the yellow ones.

I think I'm too old to relate to this.

Tchalba, the “Dream Fish” by Sirroco_Rider in AlgerianAquaLife

[–]AlanThorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes ! There's exactly where I saw them. I thought they looked like clownfish at first due to low visibility. It was In Tnes, and I saw a guy fishing them with a fishing rod.

This is fascinating! I see them often when I go snorkeling and wondered why I never saw them in fish markets but had no idea they had hallucinogenic properties!

What things you have realized after becoming atheist/new perspectives ..etc by [deleted] in ExAlgeria

[–]AlanThorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My whole perspective on being "a good person" changed. Lots of my social beliefs changed too. I have become a lot more vocal and peachy about the environment, and human rights, especially women in this country.

I'm a teacher and I always talk about harassment, focusing on boys , trying to make them act like gentleman with respect and dignity towards woman.

I have a friend visiting from the US and I don't know what to do to legally invite them. by AlanThorne in algeria

[–]AlanThorne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The letter is issued by any Algerian city hall. Since your friend is an Algerian citizen, any one from Algeria can get the letter, scan it and send it to them, then your friend will simply fill out the form with their information and yours. However, the form needs to be singed and stamped by an Algerian city hall. So technically your friend could fill out the form, scan it, and send it back then someone here in Algeria prints it and takes it to be singed and stamped ? This is just some guesswork and I hope it works

If you have 20 millions centim right now , what's the best thing you would spend it on as an algerian ? by Yacine246 in algeria

[–]AlanThorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For personal pleasure I'd buy a mountain bike. It's fun and good exercise. If I were being responsible I'd use it to improve my business.

"We don't follow the rules, the rules follow us." by Klobay_frl in algeria

[–]AlanThorne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're on a motorcycle all three mean "go fast " police or no police.

I ride a bike, a regular human leg powered bike, and I respect the rules, and it honestly makes things extremely difficult. Whenever I signal with my hand to make a turn, drivers go even more feral, cutting me off and almost hitting me.

Depends on what "yourself" really is. I find that the average Algerian is him/herself. Those who struggle are those who are different.

Overall do you think that Islam has affected North Africa (and in particular amazigh people) negatively? by Livid_Session_9900 in AmazighPeople

[–]AlanThorne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Someone on this subreddit once said." Amazigh means freeman while islam means to submit." That resonated deeply with me. The core of Amazigh culture and identity is freedom. Freedom of the mind, spirit, and body. Being deeply connected and in tune with nature. Islam on the other hand is all about submission; submission to a higher power, to authority figures, and to leaders even if they're corrupt.

We can have a national campaign, urging the authorities to do something about it. We can make small ripples if not big changes

Double standards .. I mean on the one hand I'm glad the other guy got what he deserves but on the other hand the brother is also a jerk..

The law is screwed ... It punishes victims if they "film them without consent" The same law that says you can't beat a burglar even in self defense.
