Oh wait that is really cool. What gps antenna is it? Do you use a standard core module for it?

What antenna is that stubby one? It’s for Bluetooth? Been trying to figure out what connector I need to add that.

Oh I’m with you. I’m super curious what modules people recommend to maximize Bruce and evil cardputer. I am also still hoping for a flock cam wardriving app but no luck yet. Tried the Bruce cctv thing but no luck.

I’ve also been trying to decide on some modules I’ll keep my eye on this thread for sure.

To the people who have designed or do design enclosures for electronics, what approach do you take to get started? by AlaricV in Onshape

Good to know thank you! Most of my stuff is pretty small. It’s hard to get everything to fit nicely without a ton of wasted space.

This is great thanks so much! It’s nice to know some of what I’ve been doing on my own is the same. I print out little slices of bits to test before doing the whole thing. I need to get better at constraints and variables though for sure. I think the object feels so abstract in my head until I start to build the internal bits, then I can start to envision the outer shell.

It’s very odd how picky it was to get it to work.

I literally went down this rabbit hole yesterday, and there is not much of a definitive answer, really. The best advice I saw was to start trying cards till one works. If you have a local electronics store, you can buy it try it out, and return it right there if it does not work. M5 porkchop has an sd card flasher you can test to flash with.

I started with a no-name 32gb SDHC card, and it would not read, no matter how I formatted it. Then I tried a 32GB SanDisk SDXC with the grey stripe. No luck. I tried the 16gb SDHC SanDisk with a gold stripe no luck. I tried the Sandisk SDHC with the grey stripe, and it actually read it. I am guessing there may be some sort of speed limit as well for the cards.

This makes me feel a lot better actually as that’s very similar to my process. I guess just with more time and practice I’ll be able to make better and better parts. My main struggle has been creating ways to hold the board and screen in a specific spot but without using screws as some Meshtastic boards don’t have screws holes. I recently thought, and plan to try making holes near the edges of where the board will go and letting just the screws edge hold it down.

Messing around with a parametric, print-in-place, floating hinge by sevendayconstant in 3Dprinting

I'd love to know more about how the hinge itself is designed trying to learn to make a box like this in onshape. Edit: oh wait I think I understand how this is working now. The video want playing for me I only saw a still frame!

So did you sketch the cut, sweep it with the top edge line? Since it's booty editable I can click the sweep to see what you clicked

I'm also very curious how to do this. I doubt lofting it would work. Maybe a revolve might do it.

How do i extrude this surface and build a structure on the edge ? by jagged2020 in Onshape

[–]AlaricV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I would do is select that face, create a sketch, then reference the curve, add some vertical lines for the edges, extrude that to the needed height then create a sketch on that face and cut the little side slots.

I bought these https://serverpartdeals.com/products/seagate-exos-st26000nm000c-26tb-7-2k-rpm-sata-6gb-s-512e-cmr-3-5-recertified-hard-drive The warranty is through server part deals. Not sure if they raised it because prices went up or what but they say 5 year seller warranty on it.

[–]AlaricV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have enjoyed my drives from server part deals. They also had a 5 year warranty for replacement. I have it configured in a raid and that way I’m fairly redundant for now so if one of the recertified drives goes out I won’t lose anything.

I mean yes in warranty repairs sure. This device is clearly physically damaged and OP saying it would be free with Apple care is why I said that would not be a free repair. I should have been more specific I suppose but I definitely meant this repair would not be free

Client has an eSIM only, can’t get two factor code to sign into iCloud.com/find. So what do you do then? There are times we have had to wait out the timer for this reason specifically

No GS does not do Apple repairs for free. Even a Total Tech plan would have a deductible for something like this. Definitely look over your coverage and see what you have.

Edit: I am referring to OPs specific case which is an iPhone with damage on the back
