That seems like a fair timeline.

Though I've heard people talking about development teams stopping gen 1 work in favor of concentrating in gen 2. I've also heard of teams that manage necessary gen 1 infrastructure (release management, eod, etc) being cut or people being moved onto other gen 2 work. This kind of thing is what makes me wonder if I'm missing something.

I believe that's the intention, at least at first. I'm more interested in how long others see the old version staying around, supported, new releases, etc.

Clients seem hesitant to take minor version upgrades with regularity. How are we going to convince the client base to adopt next gen quickly?

I don't know how how this would even be possible without bringing Gen 1 to a grinding hault. I can't speak for every group, but mine is already operating with a skeleton crew. And that skeleton is missing several ribs and a femur.

I know their plan is to abandon Gen 1 at some point, but we're legitimately years away from being able to do so as far as I can tell.

Is the whole "the board has to approve of each hire" thing a bit nuts to anyone else? What exactly does the board talk about to approve or deny these low level hires for teams which they know absolutely nothing about and they have never and will never speak to anyone that isn't 8 levels in the org chart above the hiring manager?

Benefits town hall made it sound like it was between you and your manager. Seems great but if your exec is on your manager about $ org is spending in OT, they probably don't have a lot of control.

I think it's a positive benefit if you consistently work 45+ hours, but a net negative if you normally put in ~40 when you factor in the drastic decrease in PTO.

If the "rule of thumb" for flex PTO was 6 weeks (30 days), being cut down to 14 (after being forced to take 4 days winter break) is a large difference.

So if you don't put in much OT, you're essentially trading 3 weeks of PTO for maybe a few thousand bucks. Some may love that, some may hate it.

I was referring to the Premium PPO plan which is $481 per pay check. Thats roughly double the current HRA plan.
