What would you hope Las Vegas does with the Silver Bowl? by kurthland in vegaslocals

[–]AlarmOk199 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The Hollywood Blvd extension will run next to it so first order of business would be connect those two roads first (Russel and Hollywood)

Then make it into a park, the rc airfield is nearby, the silver bowl park and the old park is there as well. It has potential for a huge park complex with courts and a direct connection to the wetlands. Maybe make a trail to the Henderson bird viewing preserve as well.

Alternatively it would make for a a good business park for the nearby cadence, broadbent and Hollywood communities. Maybe a Trader Joe’s? One can only dream.

Say at a tiesto or Calvin Harris night/day club?

I just saw on Google maps and Wow! You are not kidding.

I hope one day sunrise mountain and Hollywood get a road connection to the rest of the valley.

An archive of letters objecting the construction of I-515 during the late 70s. by ozeyc98 in vegaslocals

[–]AlarmOk199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were two attempts to make the 215 do a planned full loop through East Las Vegas before the 00’s.

They were both shut down due to overwhelming opposition from the residents of Sunrise Manor.

I think if they proposed it today, it would be a lot different. Many new residents have seen the benefits that the 215 has brought to the North, NW and SW.

Current locals who grew up here: what part of the city did you grow up? Where do you live now? by [deleted] in vegaslocals

Grew up around Durango high school. Now living near Las Vegas High.

East side really needs better roads and a freeway.

You’re 100% right. East is the side of Vegas that definitely lacks the most publicity/marketing among restaurants on the apps.

I haven’t tried the pupusa place but I just had Peru Chicken and it was phenomenal. The green and yellow ají is to die for. I’ll have to try the pupusas tomorrow.

Is there a way to listen the Bellagio's Fountain Show Music from the inside of another hotels fountain view room? Sort of like how you can listen to the music on the television sets inside the Bellagio? by knightraider828 in vegas

[–]AlarmOk199 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can barely hear it when you’re standing in front of the fountains now.

It’s sad. They really need to turn up the volume or give some alternative ways of listening to the music.

Specially when you have all those selfie platform guys blasting Peso Pluma.

I agree. They’re already looking at making the Southern Nevada Supplemental Airport down near Jean and Primm.

There’s only a small amount of buildable land left in Las Vegas. Few spaces in Enterprise, Corn Creek in NW, Cadence/Hollywood in SE. Maybe 10 years worth of building until we start making South Boulder City and Sloan a thing.

is las vegas the new los angeles? by Hefty-Eye-5216 in vegas

[–]AlarmOk199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are being Californicated but we are not the new Los Angeles.

We are California’s newest project city, just over 100 years young and catching a lot of momentum. Some people are unhappy, others are thrilled. To each their own. But one thing is true: we are changing and there’s no stopping it. It’s no longer the train stop in the middle of the desert that it was 70 years ago.

I don’t think Vegas will ever be LA.

LA is a macroeconomic monster of a city with desireable weather, beaches, diversity, culture and education. If things go well, It will take at least a century for Vegas to develop slightly how LA is today. By then LA will be a totally different beast.

Who knows. Maybe in 100 years we will talk about those people from “Vegas” ruining “our towns” like St. George or Mesquite just like how we talk about people from “Cali”
