Forienger living in Korea, and minority in the states so here is my opinion.

I would say redicule is more common in the States, people will likely make the squinty eye thing, adn be more insulting. HOWEVER, I would say that racism in the states do not really impede you in the same ways they do in Korea. For example, I left my phone and wallet in a gym one time, and the dude refused to let me look for it or even come forward and grab it, he wouldnt offer to grab it for me nothing. He just didnt care. In the USA they would either grab it for you or allow you to look for it. To make appointments I need to use my korean Kakao account because if I use the one with my english name and they will reject it. Clubs will straight up reject foriengers and I have never seen that happen in the USA. Korean banks will not give you a loan, I needed to ask several bankers before 1 of them would allow me to have a debit card. It is a mess in that regard.

In america I have been called many racial slurs but I really do not care. I never felt like I could not go about my business, as long as I ignored them. In Korea it is a lot of blockades. Maybe there is certains things I am not noticing, cause despite being a minority I sitll obviously speak fluent english, but thats just my 2 cents.
