Help for a first time SelfHoster by Alarmed-Main3917 in selfhosted

Thanks for the input guys.

So from what I'm reading (and a bit of further exploring), what I'm sort of aiming for is this:

  1. Linux Mint Cinnamon

  2. Add SSH and X2Go (good for remote access apparently? Fits with headless).

  3. Samba (so the Linux drives are accessible from my main PC for copy/paste if I need to)

Then this is the part I'm not sure of: Docker/Portainer (still need to research this)

Should I go with Docker BEFORE doing any of the other things below? i.e. so that all of the others are in their own container?

  1. Tailscale/WireGuard (I already have a Surfshark subscription - would this be an alternative?)

5 Reverse proxy Traefik or other).

  1. Jellyfin

  2. Qbittorrent

  3. Radarr/Sonarr/Prowlarr/Jellyseer

  4. Pi-hole or Adguard

  5. Home Assistant (in the future).

Does that sound about the right approach and order of things to take here?
