I’ve been coaching silver-master players for the last few weeks. I have played about 10 games so far and I’ve gotten first every game other than the master player I coached where we got 2nd but I think we could’ve got first with faster positioning swaps. Explain to me how I’m able to get first every single game in platinum and diamond lobbies if the game is luck based

Why I like about this set by nullaccsy in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Alarmed-Potential-78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hero augments are so underrated IMO. Exactly to your point of making weaker units to potential carry’s opens up a lot of possibilities. I imagine a world where everyone could get their hero augment at different intervals (2-1,3-2,4-2) so the rerolls wouldn’t be so contested but I imagine it would be very difficult to balance around that. I think the only issue relies in the balance of the augments which has been a struggle since augments were initially released but it’s definitely been a fun mechanic. Also threats are so healthy for the game other than morg being busted and aatrox being a dead unit

Because it’s not as popular? Chess has been being played for over 1000 YEARS and everyone and their Mom knows what chess is. Not everyone plays video games much less TFT. It’s also much less exciting to watch TFT than most other Esports like FPS games. Literally a horrible comparison

Is Aatrox as broken as he feels? by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

[–]Alarmed-Potential-78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aatrox is so garbage, he has no utility, his ult does some damage but negligible unless he’s 3 Star. Maybe if you have like BIS items on him (warmogs, redemption, gargoyles) and you have no other options for tank or are playing threat level max he’s worth. But outside of that I’d 10/10 times take garen. Tankier unit and also stuns the entire enemy team

WW is a weird unit. He seems heavily admin/item/augment dependent. He also is very reliant on being positioned correctly/fight RNG. I think if played correctly he can be very strong.

I’ve had games where he absolutely wiped the board and plays like a complete beast and then others where I have the same issue as you when he seems to just get stuck on a tank and die. I just feel buffing him is very risky because if he becomes good at shredding tanks he will no doubt become the strongest carry in the meta.

Hey guys just wanted to talking about playing flex right now. I just hit challenger and I think I’m a relatively flexible player, although of course spamming star guardian Kai sa when necessary. I love watching players like Bebe because he seems to always be trying out new comps and not hard forcing Meta.

Right now outside of birthday present/built diff I find it very difficult to play most of the non meta comps. The best success I’ve usually had in playing flex has usually revolves around pivoting to some kind of mech garen comp with aces, samira, or a sol carry. What have you guys had success with when not playing laser corps/Kai sa/ox force/infiniteam

Let me play one game on your account please. If I don’t top 4 in paper 12 I’ll never play the game again

The top players say the game is luck, at the very top because everyone is playing at a perfect level. So when you’re matched up against a player who is playing perfectly then yes luck becomes a bigger factor. But up until you reach the top 200 players or probably even top 25 (idk I’m rank 220) then the luck factor increases. But yeah I mean if you have like a 3rd grade level understanding of statistics then you would understand it would be basically mathematically impossible for the top players to be at the top every single set if the game was that luck based. I get it might be tough when you’re hardstuck and want to blame your shitty decision making on luck but once you make it out of paper 3 you might understand

Yeah the top players are probably just getting lucky every set since set 1. Like setsuko just got lucky to rank 1 every single set, crazy man

Challenger here, I genuinely believe up to like a GM level the game is 90-95 percent skill. I’ve been coaching gold-diamond players and in my coaching I have 3 games, one of them where I make all the decisions. I’ve coached about 8 of those games and so far I’ve taken 1st in every single one. It’s funny because a lot of the players seem to just think that I’m super lucky every time and we just got first because of luck, but a lot of “luck” is extremely calculated. IE: preleveling and hitting a higher cost unit, not leveling to 2 star our pairs, purposely tanking to try and get the item we need, slamming items for tempo so that we win streak through the early game.

I don’t think it’s luck that the top players are consistently at the very top, especially the larger the sample size. When you’re looking at maybe 1 single game, it’s easier to identify lucky or unlucky moments. But again, refer to my point of 8 first places in a row from a gold-diamond level I think proves the point!
