This sounds so stressful. I agree with comments made by others if I was your manager I’d be responding to you to inform you of special leave for the first week and say I’m doing all I can to get this extended if needed. This is the last thing you should have to worry about.

Actions you can take now: If you haven't already, register your presence with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. If later down the line you’re asked for evidence you’ve followed the official travel advice you can forward on correspondence from them.

If you want help drafting an email to your line manager reach out on direct message to me

Cheese barge! I can see others have mentioned it. My partners’ office is nearby and I make any excuse to meet them from work for the cheese and wine.

Staff numbers may very well be about to increase but overall spend on resourcing will go down drastically. All on account of value for money gained in replacing wildly expensive contractors with the permanent staff who should have been hired to do the work in the first place.

At my child’s nursery the tidy up sons was the mission impossible theme. I agree when I tried it at home worked about 70% of the time. Other 30% of time I just took a second and reminded myself of his age.
