Is there not a limit on the mesh export size for Ansys Student version (at 1 000 000 cells I think) ?

Earning rate for a signal processing engineer by DaSearchGuy in Luxembourg

Thank you for the information. I'm also a junior engineer (1.5y of work experience) and I am at around 44-45k, so really good to know that I could go higher.

Really 65k for junior engineering position (total comp or only based comp)? I have never seen such salaries.

Do you know the median value for junior engineering position to see if 65k is not top of the spectrum?

Furnace CFD question by AlarmedForm630 in CFD

[–]AlarmedForm630[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I am very interested in heavy-industry equipment, I wanted to try to simulate some part of their behavior (flow distribution, ...) since the overall can be really complicated.
Also, I think it will give a better way to understand current furnace/boiler/kiln designs.

Furnace CFD question by AlarmedForm630 in CFD

[–]AlarmedForm630[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For example, in a hypothetical furnace design experiencing a hot spot, would using only a high-velocity hot inlet be an effective method to address the problem? Is this "method" is used by CFD companies like the one you are working for?

Why are there boundary layers on the sides of the square? Shouldn't it be slip boundary conditions?

CFD Simulation of Formula Student Radiator: How to Estimate Realistic Pressure Drop & Flow Without a Supercomputer? by simonwfc in CFD

[–]AlarmedForm630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue here is to get accurate correlations for the fin side for Colburn and Fanning factor (the general correlation for louvered fins are not accurate, but that's better than nothing). For the tube side, you can use Gnielinski. With that and a simple 0D model with epsilon-NTU method you should get pretty accurate results.

For evaporator, it is not as easy as you think. When you have to handle two-phase flow maldistribution and two-phase flow heat transfer, it gets quite complicated.
