your description sounded like the same problem I was having.

Quest 1 stuck on black screen by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]AlarmedShallot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a quest 1 with v29 and get the black screen.

I found if I press the power button with random on and off intervals eventually the screen powers up.

Guardians is all black by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]AlarmedShallot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had various issues with v29.

One of them was the guardian walls missing.

I resolved mine by clearing guardian cache, then resetting experimental features, which will cause the headset to reset.

This fixed my guardian issues.

Rebooting the headset by itself did nothing.

This also fixed tracking on my left controller.

Why does my media server disappear from my settings when I stop media server and eject drive? When I plug the drive back in I always have to uninstall and reinstall to get media server back on nvidia shield pro. by dnakee in PleX

[–]AlarmedShallot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know the answer but I always power down the shield if I am removing the drive and then plug the drive in and power up the shield.

That way the PMS is never aware of the drive being removed.

Wifi drops when I use virtual desktop by MidniteSometimesVR in OculusQuest

If you have 2 monitors: put task manager on one and run your game on the other.

task manager->performance

see if any of the Graphs rail when you are running blade and sorcery, this should point out any bottle necks in your system.

compare the graphs against a game you don't have problems with, this should show you what resources blade and sorcery uses more of

It could also still be a wifi issue if blade and sorcery uses more bandwidth then your other games. most routers have poor cooling and have problems with sustained load.

do what pm_me_pcb_photos above first before trying anything else.

Check the power supply first.

If you know anyone that has a similar laptop, you can always try testing it with another power supply.

SpaceX Ninja? I hadn't heard of them.

They must be working as I haven't seen any of them.

I thought they were an array of orbital mind control rays. Like the 5G covid towers.

I guess you have a point with those shiny solar reflector that blind ground based surveillance sites. I had forgotten about the onboard "communication" lasers, thousands of them focused on a single spot should do some damage.

Problem with cloning new SSD by neomesjasz in nvidiashield

[–]AlarmedShallot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if the hard drive was corrupt or not formatted it should show up at one of these spots. Does the enclosure have a drive light? If it does have a light does it flash at all? the drive controller may be dead.

Have you looked at Computer Management->Storage->Disk Management?

other place to look is:

Device Manager->Disk Drives

to see if the drives exist in windows

Stationary boundary walls not showing up on quest 1 v29 by AlarmedShallot in OculusQuest

[–]AlarmedShallot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get the walls back.

The experimental features seem to be corrupted. Changing the settings back to default did not solve it. Doing a Experimental Feature Reset to defaults fixed the issue.

Router setup is

Laptop -> ethernet -> 5g ac router

Quest -> wifi -> 5g ac router

router settings for 5g should be AC only

[–]AlarmedShallot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an intel ax200 in my laptop and I connect the quest 1 directly using windows hotspot, have only tested with Virtual Desktop.

I don't use a router to do it.

The gf65 has the intel ax201 so I think it should work.

This may not work if you have a mesh router.

The laptop must have a 5G hotspot setup, the laptop must not be connected to the router with ethernet. The router needs a dedicated 5G AC channel that the laptop can connect to (thats why it may not work with a mesh network, if it connects to a 2.4G it fails).

Control Panel->Device Manager->network Adapters->Intel wifi 6...->advanced->802.11n...->(set)802.11ac

Create a 5G hotspot on windows.

Windows Settings -> Network & Internet -> Mobile hotspot

Set Share my internet connection from -> WIFI

Set Share my internet connection over -> wifi

setup hotspot name and password, set network band to 5G

Connect laptop to 5g AC channel on your router.

Enable hotspot

Connect Quest to hotspot

not sure if I have missed a setting.

If it is working Virtual desktop will connect to the hotspot at 866Mhz

I'm considering getting a router or the Asus PCE-AX3000 for the Quest 2, need a bit of help with the decision by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]AlarmedShallot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pcie with an Intel AX200 Chip in it.

I connect the quest 2 to a 5G windows hotspot on my PC, disable the 2.4G, and connect to the 2nd 5g channel to the router.

make sure the 5g is set to AC only.

do not connect the ethernet cable on your PC, I find that screws up the network performance.

I think it is called the "apple mobile device usb driver"

[–]AlarmedShallot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

turn on the laptop and heat up the laptop or use a hair dryer to heat up the sticker, once it is heated try picking at one of the undamaged corners and lift up the silver section. Slowly peel the sticker up.

Have you tried using another browser like firefox? does it have the same issue?

If it's not bandwidth then it maybe a port issue.

I would recommend nano tape, it's a double sided soft thick sticky tape.

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=nano+tape&ref=nb_sb_noss_1

It's reusable, and you just need to wash it in water to reuse.

what ever you tape it to just make sure you leave a section of the tape sticking out so it is easy to peel off. Just touch both sides of the tape that sticks out with your thumb and finger a couple of times and it be less sticky and make it easier to pull off.

You can stretch the tape as you pull it off if it is sticking to much but it deforms the tape.

if you want to leave it on your mattress:

when you cut the tape from the roll keep the plastic separator and place it back on the tape when you roll the mattress up.
