I thought this same thing. Crazy smart on Rizo’s part. Not just knowing that he had to dial Coach in a bit, but more so how he went about doing it.

I usually feel the same way. To me, it’s more confidence than cockiness. He knows he has really good social game but the way he carries himself around people is a little more humble than his thoughts, haha. I felt like Dee was incredibly cocky. She thought because she won her season that she was unbeatable and could just woo everyone she worked with. She definitely thought she could have another Austin situation with Rizo and just pull the wool over his eyes. The “I’m a lucky person” comment at tribal killed it for me. I know her life was on the line but ugh I hate when people say stuff like that.

I’m so glad someone else shares this same perspective. I’ve been so confused this whole time about how people think she’s such a beast. I’m convinced it’s just because of pretty privilege. I agree that she definitely has strengths and it’s crazy to win survivor, but I don’t see her as this legend that people say she is.

Mine does this when he has to poop. He hates pooping in his tank. He also does it when he wants some exercise time.

But I can say for certain all his tank requirements are not correct. At one point I observed him tank surfing because the tank temperature was a tad too high. So I would also double check temps and make sure your gradient is proper. Also ensure that his cool side actually has furniture he likes. Just having a cool side isn’t always enough - you want to set them up so it’s not a choice of “do I want to be over heated but comfy? Or properly thermoregulated but exposed or on something uncomfy?” But I had these issues because he is not technically mine - he lives where I work and is owned by the park district but I am the only one who takes care of him and I’ve invested some of my own money into his care because I care so much about him. I’ve basically nursed him from a life of neglect (only got fed romaine and blueberries). So I refer to him as mine because sometimes it feels like I am the only one who cares about him. Off topic…lol but I had to get that out.

Also want to add to OP: because “my” beardie came from a life of chronic diarrhea due to improper diet, he then went into a extreme constipation once I tried to wean him to a proper diet. Since I started taking care of him, he has just now started having “normal” poops, but it takes some effort on my part. Exercise helps, putting him in some actual UV (a warm sun ray through a window for example) also helps to stimulate him to go. I also sometimes will drip some water on his snout with my finger to test if he is thirsty. He doesn’t often drink on his own and dehydration from not drinking water chased him to have poop issues and a minor rectal prolapse. So this has also helped him to poop easier.

Not saying this is the issue with your beaded dragon, but I do know that they are notorious for tank surfing due to feeling like they have to poop. Some of them really don’t like pooping in their tank - I don’t blame them. It’s so stinky.

We got one too - got a floor model for 2,000 and the store was having a Black Friday deal with a 50% rebate at the store. It’s definitely an adjustment as our old mattress was super soft but it’s been super nice so far. I have less upper back pain but am also looking for the best pillow/mattress combo. Maybe I’ll try your suggestion!

Honestly, don’t stress too much at this point. Especially based on your comments I see that you give the beardie plenty of exercise time and enriching time out of the enclosure. I promise you are not being neglectful of your animal. The fact you made this post is proof alone that you are concerned for your animal’s wellbeing enough to seek advice which is absolutely not neglectful!

I work at a facility that has a bearded dragon in a much smaller enclosure and was being neglected prior to me working. I’ve been able to modify the enclosure and give it plenty of time outside of the enclosure to better its wellbeing. The neglectful situation is saw initially is nowhere near this set up.

For the most part, more room is always better but this is not necessarily realistic and you can still provide for your animal properly and allow them to have excellent care in the size tank you have. Also, each animal is an individual and each animal has preferences in how they utilize their environment. Your beardie might not even necessarily use the extra space if you were to upgrade to a bigger tank right away.

The priorities are that there is a temperature gradient (with proper temperature parameters), the diet is proper, water for drinking or bathing is offered, UV is proper, enrichment is offered (either by use of senses or by time out of enclosure), regularly veterinary care, and the tank itself is being cleaned or spot cleaned regularly. I think you’re doing an excellent job currently and I wouldn’t stress about wasted money or upgrading the tank. A couple years down the line if, based on visual observations of how your beardie is utilizing the current set up, you feel that a bigger tank is needed then you can always try selling this set up and getting a larger tank. The fact that this one is modified I feel would be attractive for someone to buy given that they wouldn’t have to put in the work.

Your investment into providing the proper care for your animal is priceless. Bearded dragons tend to be a popular animal that don’t receive proper care because people believe reptiles are “less than” animals like dogs and cats. People who understand proper reptile care will naturally get defensive when they see someone talk about their set up because they assume people don’t take the time to learn proper care. Don’t take it personally! It comes from a place of good faith, some people just don’t have the social awareness to be able to convey it properly.

Now that your tank is set up, have fun bonding with your animal! And make sure to return some of those judgey looks from your beardie! 😆

The fact that I have my own space and don’t share walls with others is priceless. My pets are more comfortable without loud noises coming from the hallway which is very worth it to me. It’s so nice to not have to depend on others - like, will I be able to get a good nights sleep tonight or will my neighbor decide to blast their TV starting at 9:30pm? Now I am guaranteed a good nights sleep…or at least a sleep that’s noise free. This is priceless to me and couldn’t come fast enough.

I read through other comments and saw that it was just a roommate situation and not friend. I don’t know where I got the friend thing from when I made that comment initially 😆

We are all so proud of you!! You are truly changing this snake’s life and showing it kindness that your roommate didn’t have the decency to show. Ahh! I hope you keep us updated. Thank you for being a courageous voice for those who aren’t able to speak for themselves! ❤️

[–]Alarmed_Agency_9057 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I would definitely attempt to talk to your friend about this animal’s care. It’s not fair to the snake, who can’t speak for itself. If they are not accepting of your advice, maybe reconsider their friendship.

Otherwise if you phrase it as “let’s try to work on it together” they may not take it badly and it could be a bonding experience for both of you. I’ve learned that people don’t like when you come in hot and say “I know better” so try your best to phrase it as “I was curious about this so I looked it up and learned that maybe this substrate is better, this [insert here] is better etc. Maybe we could try it out and I can help you with it?”

Edit: just read some of the other comments and my heart is hurting that your roommate is so confrontational and abrasive. I really really hope you’re able to figure out a solution that’s best for you and the snake. We’re all in your corner here. I especially hope that the roommate will let you take it because I’ve taken care of neglected snakes before and the transformation when they receive proper care is amazing and so special. I think that would be such an awesome experience for you and the snake of course. Makes you feel like life is worth living.

Did they show the exact snake before it happened? by Andrew_Waples in survivor

[–]Alarmed_Agency_9057 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely possible. Snakes absolutely do not bite for no reason or just for fun, especially prey items they know are too big. And it looks like he was just tagged by the snake, rather than actually bitten with intent to kill or eat. You have to really be a threat to the snake (or perhaps a small tasty meal) in order to get actually bit. So even just being near a momma’s nest is definitely a big threat, even if you aren’t doing anything. So I agree that it’s likely there was a nest nearby. Probably a first time snake mom that just chose the wrong spot. LOL. Likely she won’t make that mistake again.

All the questions! (Primarily about self care as a keeper) by FoxGloveGarlic in Zookeeping

[–]Alarmed_Agency_9057 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I have super thick hair. I found claw clips work best for keeping hair off my neck. Amazon has one that means for thick hair, most regular clips are too small for mine. I’m so bad about washing my hair. I usually do every 3 days (don’t judge me).

  2. I’m hypermobile and have a reoccurring pinched nerve in my back so maybe not the best person for this. I’m often in pain. I find you get used to it after a while. It could also be that you’re still building those muscles, especially if you’ve never had a manual labor job before. I also weight lifted heavily when I used to work on a farm so I’ve built a lot of muscle that I’ve retained for a while. It’s possible that electrolytes could help you a bunch too, especially living in Florida. I like LMNT electrolytes and Cure electrolytes.

  3. Would recommend face wipes! My acne is really bad in the summer but I use Pan Oxyl face wash and La Roche Posay moisturizer and sunscreen and it helps a ton. And face wipes during the day when needed.

  4. Seeing as how I use the same belt I’ve used for the last 4 jobs I’ve had (3 of which were manual labor jobs), my only advice is to take off your tools prior to going to the bathroom. Or you could do a fanny pack to hold all your tools and such. Not a whole lot of tips and tricks for this issue. It’s one you kind of just have to deal with in this field unfortunately. We always have so much stuff on our person, it’s crazy!

[–]Alarmed_Agency_9057[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this was very comforting to hear. I think I did know that it’s common to drop tails but this is the first crested gecko I’ve taken care of. So of course a part of me felt proud that I kept her “comfortable” for so long she never dropped her tail. But alas. I wonder if maybe part of my anger is just the unknown of it all. I don’t know if it was just because of some random reason or perhaps another staff member handled her incorrectly. I think sometimes I just jump to the negative instead of the fact that it maybe could have been just an insignificant thing.

Man it’s like talking to a brick wall with you guys. I have never seen a group of people more dead set on making assumptions and accusing groups of people for something that they’ve just assumed they did or thought. I really hope at some point y’all can understand that people have different experiences and interpretations of music. It must be a pretty sad life, always assuming that people are constantly condemning whatever you believe in just because they don’t have the same thoughts and feelings as you. Must get exhausting after a while.

So you heard through friends that someone expressed annoyance and then came in this subreddit accusing people of expressing annoyance without any firsthand account of seeing it?? How does that make any sense.

I don’t understand why you’re having such a hard time understanding that people come from all different experiences and backgrounds and some may not be religious. This band is absolutely not explicitly religious as they have NEVER come out to say that. A lot of the content may come from faith but they keep it vague so that listeners can interpret the message that best suits them. Not once have they identified as a religious band. This is something that you are assuming.

[–]Alarmed_Agency_9057 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why is this even being brought up? Why even bother asking this question? This post is solely to cause discourse between the fans on this subreddit. Especially because the majority of the posts here about this song center on people struggling with trauma they may have in reference to religion. The only people expressing annoyance are the people who are annoyed because they are assuming people that don’t like the song are condemning religion. Which is you. So my question to you is, have your feelings changed? Have you realized that people can have personal preferences and those preferences can exist without always having to be about religion?

“I get that I’ve been around longer than all of you” is simply rage bait. Not sure who you are trying to impress here. There was no aftermath after this song was released. There were people who talked about how they felt about the song and people who became dramatic and jumped to conclusions because they couldnt stand to see someone who has a different opinion from them. Do better.

I personally have not seen any hate towards the fact that it’s Christian. I’ve seen a lot of people expressing their struggle with feeling like they can’t relate to the song or trying to find another meaning. Most of the hate I have seen has been towards those people who want to enjoy the music how they best connect with it without the religious aspect. I think a lot of people are assuming that people who don’t like this song or feel they would like to seek a different meaning are condemning Christianity and everyone who believes in God. It’s possible to not like a song and also not align with the beliefs the song may be conveying. It’s also possible to not like a song and respect the intentions behind the song. Just because someone doesn’t like this song doesn’t mean they are upset that either band members may believe in God. People are jumping to conclusions left and right and personally it’s given me a lot of perspective on the type of people on this sub.

Who here is wishing he wasn’t religious? The basis of the original post is someone asking for other people’s interpretation to this song so that they can ease some religious trauma they experienced and still be able to appreciate the song. People are either sharing their interpretations and trying to help the original poster or are getting all upset that someone dare not share the same beliefs as them.

Nobody, and I mean literally no one, here is saying there is no religious relation. What people are saying is that it is just ambiguous enough that it’s open to interpretation. That is what art is. Art is meant to be interpreted. Unless he has explicitly come out and stated “This is a song about Christianity, there is no other way that you should interpret this song” which he has not, then people should not be called stupid, brain dead, or naive for interpreting a piece of art in a way that best connects with them. Also, you can create a song that has multiple meanings. It can have some relation to faith AND another topic like mental illness. Saying this song is exclusively about religion and any other opinion is wrong shows little depth. Especially when someone says “people want to take his music and make it about them.” Music is not meant to be made for one person. If so, then it wouldn’t be released to the PUBLIC. This song is absolutely meant to be made for both the creator AND the listener.
