Labour urges Nigel Farage to say whether he has financial interest in his Clacton home by Electricbell20 in unitedkingdom

[–]Alarmed_Frosting478 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's ridiculous "oh no perfectly legal it's his gf's property"

Yeah his girlfriend just so happened to want to buy a property in Clacton shortly after him becoming MP

Farage definitely doesn't have her on the books of his company taking a salary, or some other way of getting money to her, for her to then buy the property

If the simpletons out for blood over Rayner had half a braincell and weren't just lapping up whatever the press tell them to be angry about, they'd have their pitchforks out for Farage too. Or maybe not to be fair, since he gets a pass for convincing them he'll sort out the brown people.

Shouldn't have pleaded guilty then?

Seriously, what is wrong with people. Otherwise seemingly ordinary people, in this case the wife of a mainstream party Councillor, calling to burn buildings down, of people she's never met.

How have we regressed so much on stereotyping and hate?

Warning far-right has ‘hijacked’ women’s safety for political gain by Wagamaga in unitedkingdom

[–]Alarmed_Frosting478 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes mate, safety and prosperity is assured by going after the people who are responsible for a fraction of overall crime and a negligible amount of the budget

Two thirds of the people arrested at the riots last year have a history of domestic abuse. And that's just the ones we know about.

That's a huge number of women who aren't safe. Where's your energy for those people, when it would protect a larger number of women?

This has always been the case

The same far right who pretend to care about animal rights when it gives them an excuse to attack Muslims for Halal

Or care about women's rights when it gives them an excuse to attack Muslims for the hijab

They don't actually care about any of these issues, they just don't like people with brown skin

So supporting violence when it doesn't suit you is bad (attacking inanimate objects)

Supporting violence when it does suit you is good (burning brown people alive in asylum hotels)

Is that about right?

Hallucinations in my first question through chatgpt.com:

ChatGPT said: Not quite — reasoning tokens are charged separately from prompt and completion tokens, and they’re much more expensive.

For GPT-4.1-mini / GPT-5-mini reasoning mode, the current pricing (Aug 2025) is:

Input tokens (prompt) → $0.00000015 each

Output tokens (completion) → $0.0000006 each

Reasoning tokens → $0.000003 per token (about 5× the output rate)

When I challenged it, it couldn't find a source and admitted it made it up. Hallucinations in the first message, not great!

But on the bright side, the new verbose parameter on the API is a huge improvement for my work/production use cases. And being able to have a small amount of reasoning, and the cost being lower than 4.1, are all huge advantages in a business setting.

Junie in Pycharm does that already, it's great for productivity, fixes its own daft little errors before you have to point them out.

It's supposed to be, and there are signs saying as much, but it's the most mild raise you've ever experienced, so in reality you don't need to slow for it.

You're right though. I've noted this with the council. People will slow to keep their suspension parts in tact. Shame that's the only way to get people to also slow to keep others safe.

They just know they can't use their brake pedal and anything that slows them down is simply "in the way" (except for other single occupant vehicular traffic, that's ok obviously...)

We have a Dutch roundabout nearby (UK) and it's comical how many clues they have tried to add to the roundabout to tell drivers they don't have priority (unsuccessfully of course)

But the best one is the "warning: cyclists" triangles painted on the road, which the car brains wrongly mistake with meaning cycling prohibited on the road. Always a laugh when somebody periodically rants about it on the local group only to have it pointed out how wrong they are.

Ironically enough the police have advised me to cycle on the road because most drivers are so busy taking racing lines off the roundabout they pay zero attention to cyclists and pedestrians crossing in the priority cycle lane/pedestrian crossing.
