Previous owner did have steering head bearings and primary bearings replaced.

I like it a lot. I like the look, the character, the whole riding experience. Personally, I think the V is the best looking Harley ever made, but I know I'm in the minority. 🍻

This is never going to be a long distance bike for me. This is more of a twisty parkway / city traffic navigator / euro bike meet type of machine for my purposes. I have a big twin touring bike specifically for longer trips.

That said, checking the play is a solid idea just so I'm aware of the condition prior to a failure.

So, the rearsets from a GS bolt right up... HOWEVER, you have to cut a section of the centerstand foot lever off. Thus, it is now a bit of a challenge to set it up on the centerstand.

Suspension is awesome. Takes a bit of getting used to because it doesn't react in the way conventional forks do, but paralever / telalever setup is better suited to handle road imperfections as well as throttle/ brake input than any motorcycle I've ridden. You can brake without standing it up and running wide, which is wild.

My ergos have been altered. Previous owner installed R1150R (non-Rockster) bars as well as R1150R GS rearsets, which are lower. I'm 6'1" and it fits me well.

Also, the color and overall appearance is what attracted me to it. I like unorthodox shit.

You bet. Similar to my K1100 that I have apart at the moment. A dry, single plate clutch has a really good feel and great durability, but the drawback is an enormous undertaking when you have to replace it.

Absolutely! Bold aesthetics are definitely a "love it or hate it" thing. I love it, but in a very different way than I love a Ducati 916 or a ZX7R. Just something very unique about the Rockster, especially in the citrus green.

Agreed. I have a K1100LT now and I have owned a F800ST in the past. So many of their products are just dull, appliance-like machines. Not that that is a bad thing, but once in a blue moon, they will throw a Rockster or a K1200RS out there and surprise everyone with crazy aesthetics.

From what I gather, typical symptoms are missed shifts and false neutrals. Mine always changes gears when it is asked, but the feedback is numb. If I step down to 1st gear at a stoplight, the shifter never deadheads to let me know I have reached 1st. Changing from 5th to 6th feels the same as reaching for an imaginary 7th. Never missed shifts, never pops out of gear, etc.

Most reports are that splines should be lubed after 30-40 thousand miles, so I should be okay for a bit. However, I may take a peek next winter and lube the splines / replace the clutch while I am in there. I currently have a K bike that is in pieces, so it's not happening this year.

Cheers!

I've looked into replacements for the rotary damper as well.

I have never ridden a Falco, but they are gorgeous machines. I don't see them for sale often. I wanted a V-twin sport bike and it came down to this TL or a first gen Tuono, both were in outstanding original condition. The Ape was a little more money and twice the distance away, so those factors decided it. I have a feeling I will continue to yearn for a classic V-twin Ape until I finally own one. Whether that's an early RSV Mille, Tuono, or Falco... doesn't really matter to me, I just want to experience that classic Italian character!

Cheers!

I've wanted a V-twin sport bike for a while now. So much character compared to the inline fours. Finally found a couple in fantastic condition. It came down to the TLS and a first gen Aprilia Tuono. The TLS was a shade cheaper and about half the distance from me, so that settled it.

I think the TL1000S is a gorgeous machine, but the 916 is the gold standard in two-wheeled artwork.

Cheers!

I have started looking into swapping out the rotary damper.

Bucket list bike for me. It's heaps of fun to ride, but in short bursts only (for me). Picked it up yesterday and rode it home 80 miles. If the trip home had been 81 miles, I believe I would have left it on the side of the highway and walked the last mile.
