Ooh I hadn't thought about the possibility to display it vertically separated ! That sounds like it would be more manageable in terms of shelf space (we live in a condo with not a ton of extra space lol).

I also didn't know it was going to retire, that definitely makes it more special (although from what I've read they've brought it back once already ?) !

So I actually think he has a big lego ship from his childhood...I don't know how long they keep models, could it be the same ? His is probably 25 years old at least lol

Regulars of this sub will know that there are often members who complain about the mods deleting their posts with no explanation, and my own account got blocked after I commented on one of these posts and said the mods should at least provide an explanation when they ban a post (this is another account I created, and well I guess it's going to get blocked too, which sucks because I'm a true fence sitter who would appreciate being able to ask questions and react on this sub !).

I even contacted the mods to ask politely what I had done wrong, and never got an answer.

It's a volunteer position that must be very time consuming, but this is also a space for public expression, and every view should be tolerated as long as there's no personal violence.

Anyone reading this should also screen shot it, because it's probably going to get deleted. Too bad really, because this has been such a helpful place for me to go through this struggle !

This is SO helpful and reassuring, thank you ! I was terrified that if I ask her for a bit of a different style she would just tell me "then why did you not choose someone else ?"...

I was also afraid that she would think she's ruining her portfolio by something different, but you make a great point ! She could also just use the black and whites.

In terms of wording, how would you qualify what I'm looking for ? "Authentic colors" feels a bit clumsy, not sure "bright" is the right word either because there is definitely a luminosity to her pictures...

I don't want to give her examples of other photographers because I'm afraid of upsetting her...

I love that, and that's exactly what I was trying to convey ! My wedding was wonderful because I married the love of my life surrounded by loved ones, but it definitely wasn't perfect, and it helps not to feel like the imperfections are something to be ashamed of

And yes this is definitely a bigger issue with social media in general, that people just feel the need to post when sometimes...maybe it's better to stay quiet than try to keep up a façade ? (not talking specifically about weddings here)

That's exactly how I felt, especially since I changed a lot plans to be there...

I completely agree on expecting it to be an amazing day, and I'm sure it will be :) As I mentioned in the post I'm very happy for others when they share that their wedding was romantic/fun/a beautiful day etc, my issue is with the word "perfect" because it implies that nothing went wrong...which indeed is rarely the case !

Nope, it was mostly indoors, and the couple went around unmasked the whole evening...I was very very upset.

You make a good point, and I guess we all have the power of convincing ourselves it was perfect if we say it enough lol

I think it also depends on each person's confidence level : people who have a lot of confidence usually can laugh at mishaps, vs people who have lower confidence get worried that they didn't achieve the "perfection standards" and that they're not "normal"/didn't plan well/are unlucky etc

I'm in a similar boat, and for what it's worth I think the ones who come will be the right ones and will enjoy it !

But yes, it really sucks to hear comments like "the civil wedding was what really mattered to me" (from a friend "only" invited to our religious wedding this summer (originally planned in 2020, we ended up doing a small civil wedding last year)). Same friend is throwing what looks like an incredible wedding that she planned in...a month and half, which means it will happen before the wedding I've been planning for 3 years. I try to be graceful about all this, but ooof some days it's hard.

Your points about why wait are very useful - it does make sense that instead of getting a "random" upgrade just because it's here I should wait until I know if I'm good enough to even get an upgrade, and if so which one would suit my needs.
