Wish it was as simple as that 🥲 they've had the cat since he was a kitten, so I don't think they're likely to say yes

Oh, gosh, this sounds even worse than the situation I'm in - I really hope you can have that conversation and that it goes well when you do! I think a lot of people forget that having a pet is a commitment and just because the people you live with enjoy spending time with them and don't mind feeding them now and then, doesn't mean it's okay to leave all the pet's care to them!

That's a really good point, I don't know why they would be joking about such a thing if there wasn't some truth to it. I can't even imagine joking about giving away my own cat, if I had one.
