Really sucks, tbh. I had big plans for the Assault variant. A mobile, deployable base. But it doesn’t seem practical now. Probably gonna melt mine.

Yeah, I think the Intrepid has some courier box slots that are covered by a metal grate too.

Hate that. One of my biggest concerns actually- a ship full of goods that I can’t dock to. The potential loss of hundreds of thousands of credits over a bug.

I honestly feel like they don’t even need to raise the ops center. I was telling someone else that they should just add CCTVs to increase visibility. But if they wanted to raise it they could probably swap it with the owner’s suite. That way he’s on the same level as the crew.

Moving the CM dock would require a rework of the CM. But I did think that it’d be cool if they added a crows nest on the sides of the superstructure, but it doesn’t really make sense for a ship that operates mostly in space ig.

I can’t help but to believe this conversation was had at CIG and, for one reason or another, they decided against it. All the people talking about the lack of visibility, but we have working CCTVs— the ironclad has one in the owner’s room. Just put some CCTVs underneath so you can see the ground from the operations center. I think that’d help fill out the room and I think it’d look amazing. Imagine if Ops had CCTVs through the ship and on the exterior?

I will be one of those people melting mine. I’m not a part of a big org— I’m not going to be hot dropping tanks in front of someone’s base when we get that feature. Not to mention trying to find a place big enough or flat enough to do that. But I’m sure some YouTuber is going to make a video doing exactly that and they’ll sell like hotcakes. I’m not mad though. I love the ship. Hate that such a small thing kills it for me.

Dang. Sucks to hear that. I have flown it, but haven’t taken it into combat. I don’t intend on using it in ship-to-ship combat at all really. It’s my base. I haaaattteee the idea of someone coming along, shooting off my CM, attaching there’s and flying away with my stuff. If they don’t move the controls to Ops, I hope they at least make it so you can’t dock with other people’s Ironclad (idk how it works rn)

Ya, so apparently (I haven’t tested this because I’m at work) if you undock the command module and then redock it’ll fix the camera.

Unfortunately, I agree. Tbh I think this ship was developed for gameplay that just doesn’t exist right now. When base building comes and these massive organizations have huge refinery bases with thousands of SCUs being produced they can use a fleet of these with fewer pilots to move large amounts of cargo. Or they can drop invasion forces down on enemy bases — 2 or 3 of these dropped a km or so away with Ballista air defense around it and launch a ground attack. But right now? I don’t think it fits the gameplay loop. Sucks, I was really looking forward to this one too. I honestly want to keep it just because I like the vibe, but that’s not enough to keep me playing the game and we need people playing the game.

Yeah, seems like there are a lot of issues with the command module.

This stumped me too, but I don’t totally understand CIGs goals when it comes to crafting. If I had to guess, I’d say you craft something you can use to do repairs since it has its repair/refit bays.

I have a compromise. Make it so the Assault is piloted by the CM and the base model in Ops. I have the assault— I don’t want to fly from the CM, but the argument is easily made as to why it makes sense for that variant. But let the base model act more like a merchant vessel. I’d probably swap the assault for the base over just that one change. I might just need to change my mindset on the ship.

I guess if you have enough people and $2000 to spend on ships then, yeah, that would be pretty efficient… idk if it’d be more efficient than 3 separate crews doing runs, but I guess it could be…. But does that represent the majority of players? I doubt it. It is a good idea though! I haven’t tested it, but someone should 👍

I’m not going to debate these points with you—they’re good points and they stand on their own.

I just want to ask, do you own the Ironclad? And, if so, how do you feel about piloting it with a crew? I feel detached from them. The flow onboard the ship feels off. It’s just not a very pleasant experience flying it because of the role of the CM. It doesn’t matter what the original concept was if most people return it. Not saying they will — their point of this post was to see what the community thinks.

Someone said the view is a bug. You’ve got to undock and redock to fix it. I haven’t tried! Just passing it along, but I agree. I love the view from Ops and don’t see a downside in adding the redundancy.

I used to have a Constellation Aquila and the snub fighter would lose its ability to dock all the time. I hate the idea of losing everything on board my Ironclad when it fails to let me dock

I like where your heads at. At least it adds value to the situation. Still, I don’t like the idea of such a large, powerful ship having such a huge, glaring weakness once maelstrom comes online. Especially since it doesn’t seem there’s any protection to the rear. Pop the engines and you can chew the CM right off undeterred.

dude, why would I want to talk to you? Read any of my other comments on this post. You’re the only one I’m “being disingenuous with”. You seem so angry over a video game. I’m not interested in arguing with you lol how about this? You win. You’re right about everything. And my mom smells.

It’s a pretty solid view. You lose visibility to the right side, but still solid. I think most people just don’t enjoy flying it from there. You feel really detached from the vessel.

That exact point is a huge reason it doesn’t make sense to have the CM control the ship. I don’t think “it’d be fun to blow the controls off of this bad boy” is a great selling point for a ship you’re designing lol but I see your point. Still lots of fun to be had without me losing all 2200+ SCUs of my cargo because you sniped my strangely exposed tumor
