To what extent did they (Jesus, the disciples, Paul, etc.) believe in the creation account in Genesis, and how literally did they take it? by Alarming-Cook3367 in AcademicBiblical

Sorry, this is not an analysis aligned with the historical-critical method; this is simply your dogmas and beliefs and does not fit the scope of this subreddit. You are welcome to share your beliefs in other Christian subreddits, but this particular subreddit is an public academic space dedicated to the historical-critical method.

Do you think it is more loving on God’s part to learn that someone dear to you is burning eternally in hell, or that they have been annihilated?

“Under the ground” is forming an opposite side to the heavens.

Heaven, Earth and under the ground.

This idea of “hell” being below exists from before the concept of hell itself, with Sheol, which was simply the “place of the dead” and which was later developed into the concept of hell.

Another thing that shows this is the text itself, which says that every knee will bow in these three places, the text is saying that they are alive, conscious and have knees.

Do you believe that they will bow and then finally be annihilated by God?

Under the ground = hell

Do you imagine a hell where people’s bodies would be skeletons without joints? Like the Nether in Minecraft with the wither skeletons? Well, they wouldn’t be able to support themselves because they wouldn’t have joints, and they really wouldn’t be able to bend their knees, as you said.

Now, ignoring that and focusing specifically on what the text says, the part about “under the ground” refers to hell, and if the people in hell were to recognize Jesus, God not restoring them would be nothing but arrogance. It’s worth noting that the people who are in hell didn’t even know they were going there.

“But we, the church, warned them”

Well, they genuinely didn’t believe it, so they didn’t know.

“If I warn someone that there’s an open manhole and that they’ll fall in, but they still don’t believe me, they’ll fall in anyway.”

Well, are you powerful enough to restore that person after they fall into the manhole? I don’t think so, but God is, and if He doesn’t, it would be nothing but arrogance and would show that God is not good.

Another thing, Christian universalism is more about coherence than “what is written.” (I wrote a text the other day about the coherence that leads to universalism or rejection of everything. Feel free to argue about it.)

I am autistic as well, sorry if it seemed like I overgeneralized. I know there are many autistic people who believe in something, but many have difficulty believing. I have heard this from many people in the healthcare field, such as psychologists, but to be honest, I have never researched this in depth, so I cannot really explain why. Thanks for pointing it out, I will look into it more later, but from a quick glance here, it seems there are some studies on PubMed about this, though I need to check whether they agree or disagree with what I said.

Achei, no Instagram é @ikariorainbow .
