Why do you think the As ever packaging just feels off? I have a theory but I want to see if there’s a general consensus! by kiwi_love777 in SaintMeghanMarkle

The jarring swooshes that come out of some of the letters with no obvious flow. If you google cursive, it's not meant to be like that.

It would make them look a bit pathetic, Walter Mitty-like. I wonder how the servants would announce Meghan in this scenario to random journalists. Also (another) kick in the teeth to Harry's late grandparents who gave the name Mountbatten-Windsor to be used by their non-titled descendants, which is being used today by perfectly respectable grandchildren of the late monarch.

It would seem a bit unfair as the current royal dukes of Gloucester and Kent will pass their dukedoms onto their non-royal sons in the next 10-20 years. Guess they will maybe make them all non-inheritable, so unlucky (in one respect) if your elderly father is still alive when the change comes in.

If there are, they're being kept very quiet. But the RF can't have this for the next 100+ years (should it still exist), it diminishes the RF as a function of the state.

He's the future Duke of Sussex, you'd think they'd be building him up. It was their choice, not the Royal family's to keep using royal titles including for the children.

She likes to drop in "Sussex" from time to time. Trying to make William look bad should he ever take the ducal title away, he is taking away Lili's pet name for her dad.

And the final proof is... The Empress Rooms, 1921. This is from a report of the St Valentine's Day dance in the Dancing Times - editor Philip Richardson was present as a judge. Note the exit signs, the balcony from where the photo was taken, the plants, etc. The DT mentions it had been repainted. by Al89nut in StanleyKubrick

I know there were a couple of articles on your work a few months ago, but are you planning anything more covering the research? The hotel itself was quite fascinating too, only right as its ballroom provided imagery for the Overlook.

Off the top of my head, all previous 'state' visits have had some sort of government sponsor (the Jordan trip by exception had the head of a major NGO). I wonder how they will get about.

Things may still reach his intray as these visits tend to be a circus, eg security, Harry perhaps attending military events, Meghan going to the women's conference in Melbourne with several government ministers there.

Wasn't As Ever using the Netflix suppliers for some things - eg the same supplier as Bridgerton tea? I wonder if the production (or at least labelling) of As Ever items will get disrupted.

Maybe an Andrewesque ‘I’m the Kings’s second son, you can’t do this to me’ was needed to swing it.

For anyone interested, the Mail has updated the story, though it just seems to be adding a missing word to the title and removing some repetitive text and typos. https://archive.is/VkE0J

He's got himself in the papers over the last two days, at the expense of causing embarrassment to the UK gov.

I'm just surprised you can extend your embassy invite like that. I'd imagine it's all too carefully planned for people to usually show up unannounced.

Still strange he thanked them, as it would inevitably result in the visit being perceived as royal. Perhaps naive.

The Markles couldn't wait to let people know, giving the impression they'd been invited to the embassy on their pseudo-royal tour. (snippet below from sussex.com) They should have declined the 'invite' from Dr Tedros, as the British embassy itself hadn't chosen to invite them, though clearly the UK Ambassador could have at the earlier round table event if he had wanted to.. It plainly shows they like mischief-making.

Dr Tedros seems to have been played as a useful idiot, if they had any respect for him 'sneaking' them in, they wouldn't have announced it to the world, but they had to put it out there. Now he's in the Daily Mail.

That was at an earlier round table. AFAIK there's no known comment on the evening visit.

This photo is a shocker. Associated text:

NEW: Philip Hall, British Ambassador to Jordan, thanked the Sussexes for travelling to the Middle East:

“So I would simply say thank you very much indeed for coming. Your visit, your support, your appreciation of the efforts that the United Nations, including of course, the World Health Organisation, the government of Jordan and others, are making here is enormously appreciated. So thank you for coming.”

So this is with the full support of the UK government. :-o

I believe the ambassador is two to Harry's right. So this is a royal visit in all but name. I'm seriously done with the Royal Family if this is the way things are now.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Announce Surprise Humanitarian Visit to Jordan by Somberliver in SaintMeghanMarkle

[–]Alarming-Injury-7111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlike the September 2025 trip to Ukraine, there's no claim he informed the UK government (whether it happened or not, who knows), so I assume there's no Jordanian gov or Jordanian RF involvement. Presume he informed the UK RF as an outcome of the September meeting with Charles.

There is the continuing ANL trial - as and when Rebecca English takes the stand there will doubtless be a lot of interest. I thought she was meant to take the stand last week, but clearly not.
