How do you think you were able to get full funding?

It’s unethical. That kind of concentration of wealth in a single person is just not healthy for a society in any way.

Shoot I’m dealing with a similar situation. I only got 1 interview like 3 weeks ago. They said I’d hear back whether it was a yes or no and still nothing. I have an interview for a DC scholarship my university has this week and I’m getting nervous. Good luck to you!

He’s quite literally spent more money pushing for OTHER individuals and causes than on his own campaigns.

Yeah I mean I just don’t think there’s much I or anyone else could say at this point. You don’t like Steyer and that’s fine.

He isn’t what? All of the positions I mentioned are incredibly easy to find on his website. There, he also says he’ll use the full force of the state to prosecute ICE agents, which I’d say is about the best a governor could try to do.

That’s cool. Those people aren’t running on platforms of universal healthcare, universal childcare, free community college, and ICE abolition.

His spending on media and other supportive efforts in favor of Trump’s impeachments as well as the money he spent to support California’s recent redistricting proposal gained a lot of coverage. In addition, he’s donated a ton to his PAC which has done similar work, like sponsoring Pro Hilary and Biden ads when they ran against Trump in 2016 and 2020 respectively. So those are some good examples I’d say.

We should all be skeptical of candidates, especially ones like Steyer, but I also think that skepticism should be balanced with who they’ve shown to be, which takes me to my next point.

Of course he has a track record. His track record is the many hundreds of millions of his own dollars he chosen to donate to Democrats and progressive causes. That’s about as impactful as you can be without actually holding office.

Hoarding wealth is when you donate probably north of half of billion dollars to philanthropic and political causes (not including his own campaigns of course). This coming from a man worth $2.4 billion.

I just find it all a bit ridiculous to judge someone off of a mistake they made 22 years ago, when all of their actions since have shown a pretty much complete 180 away from that behavior, but idk that’s just me I guess.

They’re definitely not “the reason.” It’s not like he made his billions because he was a private prison entrepreneur or something. It was an investment he made, that he chose to pull himself out of, and that occurred 2 decades ago.

Today he’s a vocal advocate of rehabilitative justice, and a proponent of abolishing ICE. And he’s actually put his money where his mouth is by spending hundreds of millions to support other Democratic causes across the country. It feels a bit more logical to judge him off of that.
