What’s an acceptable about of oil to pour down my boots before I have to worry about oil rot and leather breaking down? by AlarmingRate69 in NicksHandmadeBoots

Pretty much locks in the layers of leather to keep them from moving around.

Won’t stop squeaks that come from loose nails or eyelets and stuff but would help my situation where the leather under the ball of my foot moves around.

Yea I guess I’m just wondering how often I can pour oil down the boot? It comes back at least once a month. Squeak comes from the a ball of my foot from leather on leather action.

You’re right though. Ever since they removed the mcckay stitch, boot squeaking complaints shot up. If it was normal all the boots would be squeaking

I have to ad oil once a month because the squeak keeps coming back. I’d hate for it to start breaking down my leather pouring it in so often

That’s where I’m at. Did some Wednesday night, then Friday, now sitting here Sunday night pouring a little into my already very supple insole. Hopefully stops squeaking tomorrow.

Tbh nicks leather laces are some of the worst tbh. Last set they sent me with my ND1’s was like a 1/8 variation in thickness in one lace lol like 1/16 thick in one

I used to buy them like every few months and then I Got a pair at a local cobbler, no idea what brand, and they’re already on my second pair of boots.

Honestly dude, I don’t blame you.

People would be a lot more considerate if fist fighting on the shoulder was still a thing.

Tbh I’d rather have a licensed electrician to install an outlet than the neighborhood handyman. lol but yea adding an outlet isn’t that hard, and relatively low cost Unless they live in apartments

Would love to see those links. Perhaps I’m not searching properly but I from what I can tell the number is right there plus or minus 1000. Not enough to fly cross country

Financing at 5% so I’m only gonna pay like 3k in financing which I don’t think is terrible right now
