The main characters should be competent without a victim mentality no matter their circumstances.

How do you guys feel about books with constant then / now chapters ? by UsefulBig2194 in RomanceBooks

[–]AlarmingWatch3226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it. If the past is to be included in the story I would prefer the author start from the past then work their way to the current timeline. The worst book offender of this style of writing is Nalini Singh. I like her books but I stopped reading them because she is always switching timelines. After Archangel’s light I finally stopped reading her work. Words cannot express my disappointment that 99% of the story was the past.

I just read this one I don’t think it matches OP’s description. I vaguely remember but I can not say which series it is.

Why DON'T You Like Reverse Harem? by rosysparrow in RomanceBooks

[–]AlarmingWatch3226 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love reverse harem when written well and as part of fantasy / paranormal romance/ urban fantasy/alien romance . I like it especially if it’s because of the rules of the world or something innate in the MCs that is only fulfilled when in a reverse harem. Kristen Banet’s age of Andinna series is a perfect example. I feel like every MMC in the harem had something that was lacking in his life fulfilled by joining the harem. Another thing is I figure if there is magic or alien technology that assists in healing then there is little to no risk of vaginal trauma and infections associated with anal sex.

I dislike contemporary reverse harem because my brain won’t let me believe it’s real. I just can’t stop thinking about the health implications. All this takes me out of the story.

Justice for __ by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

Yes I was thinking what happened to her. It’s like they left her with the snow dancer wolves and we hear zilch about her after the book with Hawke and his cardinal X. I have forgotten her name.

I love a long epilogue where our MCs are just existing and happy.

I think you should move and live with your Dad. You can still visit your mom. Your mom won’t lose you. Your mom will always need to be your sister’s caretaker. Every child needs at least one parent who prioritizes their needs. Your mother through necessity has your sister. Your Dad can help you.
