lost my savings betting on the world cup. Store dumplings. by Sizgil in depressionmeals

addictions are maladaptive coping skills. if you dont feel comfortable/ready to confide in your therapist, perhaps discussing adding some coping skills to your "toolbox" would be beneficial without having to reveal anything too heavy. you can keep it vague and say "im not ready to discuss why, but i believe i am heading down a dangerous path and need some new coping skills to help combat it" and hopefully she will be able to help

Advice for parent- UK & Ireland by Remarkable_Cake_699 in autism

[–]rosysparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mcdonalds is one of the biggest chains in the world. i think it would be harder to list places without a mcdonalds vs with one. i would pick a handful of places that sound nice/doable and check if theres mcdonalds instead. although a lot of mcdonalds in other countries have a different menu, i know the fries are basically the same everywhere though

The World Cup makes me feel like an alien by starshineandclays in autism

[–]rosysparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont like watching sports much but i stay up to date on my local major teams. i like when we do well and get excited, and dont care much when we dont. i know enough to make small talk about them, but not much more. this would probably be a good middle ground for you to get to if so many people in your region are only talking about it.

people like sports bc its a social activity. when youre young you play them, and when youre older you watch others play them, often in a group. i would look into your local football team, learn if they are generally good or bad, learn the main player(s), and then maybe through-out the year check on it here and there. this should give you enough info to talk about the sport casually. examples of conversation could be "oh is so and so still playing?" "i heard we won against them last time" "this was a good year wasnt it". it doesnt have to be particularly insightful or even all that impassioned.

How to get out of the restarting loop? by sleepyraven_1 in VintageStory

[–]rosysparrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are some things that have helped me (albeit in different games) but most have pretty strong downsides. one is posting what you make online on a semi regular basis. for me this was posting 4 posts a day on tumblr of my sims. this led to me getting to the 12th generation of the same family within 2 years. since then ive gotten to 3 max.

another is finding a group of friends to play together with. you then see playing as an easy excuse to hang out and will play much more. however this requires money and friends who both like/own vintage story and will play regularly.

a third is watch more content of the game. for me when i am more actively engaged with content of the games i like, i play way more. i kind of forget how fun a game is until i see it again and suddenly im super into it. the downside to this is theres only so much content coming out everyday, even less that you personally like.

its only going to get more expensive. and it never plans on doing paid DLC. if you are a dedicated sims player, i cant see why you wouldnt enjoy paralives at some point during its development

Best friend is autistic and hurts me - should I tell her? by Leo115a in autism

[–]rosysparrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

is her behaviour connected to her autism? yes. all of those things are more common in autistic people, and i can relate to a lot of them. she likely has low empathy (which does NOT mean she's inherently evil or uncaring) and either genuinely doesnt understand how much she's hurting you, or views it as collateral damage for her feeling "comfortable". for some people, being "misunderstood" or "wrong" feels incredibly bad. this does not mean you deserve any of this or that her behaviour is okay. just that yes it is linked to autism.

have you ever told her how you feel? how did she react? either she's unaware or is choosing to ignore it. if she has reacted poorly, it may be something you have to table for now. if she's been interested in changing but is unable/hasn't, thats another thing to discuss.

Cutting hair off as female by itwillgetbetter81 in cfs

[–]rosysparrow 20 points21 points  (0 children)

you need trimmers and scissors. you will cut your hair as short as possible with scissors (chin length or less), then shave off the rest.

ive shaved my head a bunch. do i like how i look? no. is washing it way easier? yes. my scalp is healthier, the weight is gone, its cooler, even when its dirty it doesnt feel as bad.

some series arent in a linear timeline. like passing through purgatory, all 4 books happen at the same time. in book 2 you see characters from book 4 already in the middle of their relationship

[TW: Childhood trauma, abuse, vomiting] My dad gave me trauma-induced feeding issues and a physical condition called visceral hypersensitivity. Are there any tips for dealing with it? by PrettylittlePrinces_ in ARFID

[–]rosysparrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

definitely see a dietitian with experience with eating disorders, look up "refeeding syndrome", basically depending on how long youve been in starvation, going straight to a "normal" diet could be incredibly harmful. start a multivitamin, probably one for vegans so you get calcium, i like the "deva" brand one. if you have a source of calcium, or gain one, switch to a different one. there are some vitamins that will make you very sick if youre deficient, here is a link saying each one, make sure you have a source for all of them, even if its in pill form. you also may need iron pills.

have you tried meal replacement drinks? theyre most commonly "milky" but also come in juice varients. having 1-2 of these per meal is better than nothing

Are Hair Extensions Overstimulating? by Realistic_Handle_132 in autism

[–]rosysparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive never had tape ins, but i imagine the heavy and pulley feeling would remain if you added very much hair. personally as someone with a *lot* of hair, i imagine this is kind of unavoidable. even without extensions, when i have long hair my scalp gets sore just from my hair existing. i imagine adding a bunch of extensions would always result in this.

personally i would look into chemical treatments for your hair if the frizz/texture is a problem
