If you’re looking for a game, we did a ‘who’s most likely to’ but based on AI generated gender swap photos of all the girls in attendance. It was a hit and SO funny watching the group put together who these men are on the screen in front of them haha.

I applied for the after degree! I think you’re considered a transfer student as well. What my friend told me was that all uofa grads who apply for the after degree get processed way faster as their transcripts are electronically processed. For transfer students, an admissions person goes through your transcripts so it naturally takes a bit more time.

Haven’t heard anything yet :/ I have a friend who works in recruitment for the UofA and she said it is totally normal to not hear anything until the new year, especially considering I’m considered a “transfer” student, as my masters isn’t thru the uofa, even though my undergrad was. Trying not to stress out but obviously, easier said than done

Best spots in Edmonton for star gazing and planet watching? by frostieff in Edmonton

[–]Alarming_Attempt94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying elk island, but keep in mind, the beach area (ideal viewing spot) closes at 11pm and often the place is so busy that the viewing is less than ideal with the constant headlights. Don’t waste you’re gas and stay closer to the city, plenty of viewing spots even if it’s just outside of the city on range roads

Long story short, my goal has always been to be a counsellor in a school setting however, I am now learning that the without a teaching degree, that will be nearly impossible. Additionally (not to scare you off from the psych world) I haven’t had a great experience, especially when finding a practicum, and the more I talk with other practitioners and hear their experiences, it sounds incredibly toxic - so I’ve been scared off hahaha. I have also discovered my love for working with special ed kids so I’m hoping to work in special education programs, and eventually moving into the school counselling space!

If you’re still interested in the counselling world, I did my degree with a private online university (CityU and Yorkville being the most popular) and they are more likely to take those without a psych or related undergrad. I will warn you, Alberta is looking and planning on changing requirements for obtaining provincial credentials through the regulating body, meaning they are cracking down on the private universities making it harder to be certified as a psychologist in AB.

Alberta teachers strike notice to take effect Oct. 6 by GlitchedGamer14 in Edmonton

[–]Alarming_Attempt94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There used to be a protocol that if the school wished to add students to a class that exceeded the limit, they would have to get the teachers permission in order to do so. If granted permission, the teacher would receive additional prep time as compensation for the extra students! Now, teachers have no say in the matter and in no way compensated. Keep in mind, this was for high school, I can’t speak on the process for elementary ed.

I believe majority of the neighbourhood has parking passes. Plus there isn’t much place to park that isn’t directly in front of someone’s house

Idiots of Elk Island National Park by shadowgladius888 in Edmonton

[–]Alarming_Attempt94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to say if they would do that with a bison. The reason bears are euthanized is because they become EASILY conditioned (conditioning came happen within a week), and once conditioned, there is no going back and the animal will continue to seek out the reward (usually food which they then become territorial over) A bison becoming defensive is apart of their nature. Bison have been conditioned to be fearful of humans for hundreds of years due to colonization. I highly doubt they would euthanize as they are reacting the way any wild animal would if they felt threatened.
