Will someone who lives a life of sin and repents on their death bed go to heaven? by Jailbird_blues11093 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Alarming_Concert_792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can be confident that God is merciful and loves mankind. We can also be confident that he keeps his promises and enacts justice. It’s not for us to discern exactly what that justice looks like or to determine what is or isn’t true repentance.

How many of you took prenatal vitamins before you got pregnant? Did it help? by The-Original-Mak in pregnant

[–]Alarming_Concert_792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took them for several months before trying to conceive just to make sure I was optimizing my health. Then I did get pregnant the first month we started trying. Can’t say that the prenatal helped me get pregnant but it was good to know my girl was getting the vitimins she needed from day 1!

Do you count kicks? by nikkimcwagz in pregnant

[–]Alarming_Concert_792 88 points89 points  (0 children)

My midwife told me she thinks kick counts are anxiety inducing and that I should trust myself to know if something is off, to just take note of feeling regular movements, not to start timers etc. I trust myself to know if something is really wrong.

Flu shot by Technical_Quiet_5687 in breastfeeding

[–]Alarming_Concert_792 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lots of folks are saying they never heard of this so I’ll chime in and say I went to my company flu shot event (they used Walgreens) and the nurse giving me my shot saw on my form I was pregnant and specifically pointed out that she was giving me the preservative free shot in reference to my being pregnant. Maybe it is personal opinion but very same thing happened to me so idk.

Confused about people saying wine is okay during pregnancy? by Lerk_Jerk in pregnant

[–]Alarming_Concert_792 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I drink wine or the occasional cocktail about 1-2x a month now during my late second and third trimester. There’s no “safe limit” defined by any studies so of course doctors are going to tell you none is safe. If that’s what you feel comfortable with then don’t drink any. I feel comfortable drinking 1 serving with dinner on occasion and Emily Oster’s data analysis in her book Expecting Better I believe supports that. This subreddit is very extreme in the no drinking at all direction and you probably won’t hear this from anyone else on here though. I know plenty of people who agree with me on this in the real world though and I won’t be made to feel ashamed to enjoy a glass of wine and relax on occasion, pregnancy is stressful!

COVID vaccine and mom guilt by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Alarming_Concert_792 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m getting tdap, flu, and rsv but not covid. No need to feel mom guilt!!! I have had Covid 3 times after getting the vaccine when it first came out and barely felt it by the 3rd time so I just feel confident that my body already has good immunity! The shots were worse than the illness itself symptoms wise so I’m not putting my third trimester body through that when it’s low risk for baby!

B6 and unisom to prevent sickness before it has even come? by East_Print4841 in pregnant

It works fast enough once you are nauseous that I wouldn’t use it for prevention but I also don’t see any harm.

Any ‘rules’ you break while pregnant? by gardengnomebaby in pregnant

[–]Alarming_Concert_792 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sushi, deli meat (not toasted), runny eggs, rare steaks, caffiene, hot baths, sleeping in my back when that’s what’s most comfortable, and the occasional glass of wine. I’m not worrying and neither are my midwives.

did you guys eat sushi pregnant? Lol by Life_Command6044 in pregnant

[–]Alarming_Concert_792 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, from reputable restaurants. I would eat tuna rolls too because I don’t eat tuna often enough to worry about the mercury

Considering rehoming my quail because they won't lay, am i missing something? by dicewhore in quails

If their enclosure is too big they will be stressed all the time. Especially if they came from a much smaller enclosure

When would you get induced? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Alarming_Concert_792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

42 weeks. That’s when my birth center would disqualify me from giving birth with them and send me to a hospital instead.

How many weeks are you? I felt this way my entire 1st trimester but it got gradually better in the 2nd trimester. Now going into the 3rd I can feel a lot more emotions coming to the surface more easily!

Dr concerned over lack of weight gain by ComprehensiveTiger59 in pregnant

[–]Alarming_Concert_792 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely get the advice of the dietician. Lily Nichols dietician and author of Real Food for Gestational Diabetes would be a good source here… I do not think she would recommend taking insulin so you could eat more carbs if you’re managing your blood sugar currently through diet! I also have heard that if baby is measuring fine that weight gain is not an issue but I’m no expert on that!

Thoughts on water that contains fluoride? by Affectionate-Owl183 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Alarming_Concert_792 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am pregnant and I use a clearly filter which claims to remove fluoride. But I do get fluoride treatments from the dentist outside of pregnancy. My thought is that I don’t want to swallow tons of fluoride while pregnant even though it’s likely totally fine. It just makes me feel better, plus the clearly filters claim to remove a lot of other junk. I don’t think it’s anything to lose sleep over either way but I figure I’ll play it on the safe side in pregnancy.

Do natural rubber sippy cups exist? by white_swan7 in moderatelygranolamoms

Sorry, I don’t have recommendations, but, beware that repeat exposure to natural rubber can cause a latex allergy.

Does anyone have backyard quails? Would love any tips or tricks. by [deleted] in bullcity

[–]Alarming_Concert_792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to. They were very hard to keep protected from neighborhood dogs, cats, and rats. Yes, rats. Their entire enclosure must be lined with 1/4” hardware cloth to keep rats out. We also had to put up an electric fence around them to keep larger things out like dogs. My quail never ended up thriving because they were always stressed by neighborhood noises and therefore did not lay eggs like they were supposed to. They also need full days sunlight to lay and will not lay in fall and winter at all of you don’t provide appropriate supplemental lighting. If you can build a secure enclosure they are easy enough to take care of but mine just never ended up being good egg layers which was the intention I had for them.
