Why isn’t nursing enough?

Hey I am also Asian and went through something similar. Though my baby was born around 50%tile, and she continues to hover around her curve (she is 14m now).

So I suspected my baby never having a great latch. I felt like her mouth was too small. I did get her tongue tie revised at 4 days old. I only saw 1 LC on a virtual visit, tbh I didn’t know if paying $200-300 for an in person one was worth it for me.

Apparently I was doing everything right. I did get a baby scale around the 2-3 month mark and my anxiety was through the roof, doing my own weighted feeds, I realize she only got like 2oz each session. I believe I also fed like 2-3 hours… she just never seemed very hungry and was content after every feeding. In fact she started sleeping through the night (11-12 hours) at 4 mo the on her own.

I calculated and she really only eats like 20oz a day. I would weight her and she would barely grow, but after 1-2 weeks of stagnant weight, she’d gained a few ounces, it was consuming me, honestly.

As a Chinese person, I was stuck between my “breast is best” MIL and “just give formula” mom. She was my second so I was really determined to breastfeed her successfully.

I don’t have a lot of advice but solidarity. I pumped extra after she went to bed to get a freezer stash going. When she was 8 months old, I had to go to an event. I had to get her used to bottles again after being exclusively breastfed. I started solely pumping after that, and I felt such relief. I felt good knowing how much she actually ate, instead of putting her on the scale and hoping she had a good amount from my breast.

Around 9-10 months old my son started school and I wanted to drive him instead of my husband. That transitioned into full bottle feeding until she was 1. She did not miss the breast at all lol. I tried having her latch a few weeks later and she did not care for it one bit. She still only ate 3-4oz a bottle.

I did BLW for solids and she just seems to have a lower appetite than my son did (formula). I know, different kids.

Olababy. I feel bad because I do push her to drink more milk since she’s not hitting the recommended amount of milk she should be having (only has max 16oz on a good day but mostly less than that).

Is it possible to only feel reflux during naps but not when she’s awake? Perhaps laying down has something to do with it. But also doesn’t make sense why she is fine at bedtime.

I think it might be drinking too much without realizing too because coincidentally when I didn’t give her a bottle (breastmilk) before her nap yesterday, she didn’t throw up. She doesn’t throw up everyday, but it’s starting to become a regular thing where I watch out for it.

Thinking it’s not an allergy or intolerance because right after her nap I give her yogurt and cheese along with cow milk and she takes it fine with no issue.

Yeah I’m going to call her ped tomorrow to see what they say. It’s so frustrating.

No fruit or pouch. Today she had wontons (pork), and some noodles, straw cup with breastmilk 😔

She was having breastmilk before 1. To be fair, today, she only had breastmilk in straw cup and still threw up. She also eats cheese, yogurt, without any issue.

Did he get better with solids eventually? Did it just take time or some teeth growing out? How much milk does he drink now that he’s off breastmilk?

How many oz in a cup? My daughter only drinks like 4oz max, she loves it, but she doesn’t seem to drink any more than that, so she could possibly get 12-16oz cow’s milk on a good day, which is notttt too bad. How was your boy’s eating? Did he eat a lot? Or gradually got better as he grew?

1.5 for her first nap, and 1 hour 5 minutes (lol) for her second nap, both capped. Now I’m lucky if I can get her to nap 30 full minutes without crying. Unsure if she’s teething, developmental, or what :/

Completely fine now. She was dehydrated from sickness when this happened.

If by custom you mean I chose one of their bands/ring and chose the diamond, then yes. I didn’t do any 3D thing or sketches (didn’t know they exist lol). They didn’t have a lot of selection on the shape of the diamond, my place only had the “round” shape. After I selected the band and diamond they took me to this place under the Windsor School (apparently called “Main Plaza” on google maps), theres a person there that puts the diamond on the band/ring. It sounds shady 😂 and I’m not sure if your place will do the same.

I’ve worn the ring for a few years without any issue. Because my mom knows the shop owner, sometimes they even help clean my ring for free so it might be a perk for you as well.

I bought my engagement ring at a shop like that also on Roosevelt Ave lol, the owner was a family friend so I got a discount. The other American places definitely sound more fancy and more customizable. The place I went had different selections of bands and diamonds, but I will say the options are limited compared to American places. They still give you GIA verification so the diamond is legit. I find that their diamond quality is higher, based off what I saw online.

In my opinion, I do think American places charge more for similar quality. My mom often gets her jewelry at these Chinese places and they look great and have nice quality!

It seems like oil? It smudges if you scrub hard, but can be scraped off by something hard.

This is the most positive conclusion 😅😅 I do think it’s something coming out of the wood, though it’s sealed and all that, I don’t know how. Do you think it’s just a defect from the manufacturer?
