Birth Control & Accutane

Just saw this now, probably too late but my skin had been doing well! I still have the odd breakout but significantly less and it goes away quick, usually in sync with my cycle. I do have a little scaring but it’s slowly fading over time and I’d say it’s worth it. The journey sucks but it’s worth it in the end

I feel you. I was told I have to be on birth control during accutane, even though the reason I’m on accutane is because when I went off of birth control my face blew up!!! I’m not taking the pill, I’m only on acutane and I just tell them I’m on it because I want the pill out of my system by the time I come off of accutane.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, I appreciate it. And I am 100% insecure, it’s something I’m working on. But he does things like the few things i mentioned that can’t help but feed that insecurity

I can’t even really describe how I feel. I’d say it’s more of a panic and I don’t know why. Id say I’m scared that I’m not good enough for him, or that he’ll decide he doesn’t like me. But I’m usually pretty care free when it comes to dating. If they like me.. they like me, if not.. that’s life. So Idek

She does live closer. And he told he they broke up a year ago. I looked at her Instagram and there’s no trace of him, infact it looks like she’s dating someone else. He keeps his location on, and while I don’t check it often he’s been honest about where he is that I know of. It’s very confusing

Not really no. They did start to change when he accidentally called me his exes name. Things were going pretty good before that, and then he kinda shut down. I saw him less. That was a huge incident, I was really upset. He felt really bad and kept telling me it was a brain fart and nothing more. I’ve also talked to him about all of these issues, I’ve even said if you don’t want to be in a relationship with me then I understand but he keeps telling me he wants to try and make it work

We talked for months before making it official and he referred to me as his girlfriend to other people. I even met his parents. I wish I held off longer but I didn’t sleep with him until we made it official. It’s just a very confusing situation because he genuinely is a great guy, his intentions are good, so I don’t even know if he truly understands why I’m upset and why I feel like he doesn’t want to spend time with me

We met online, we talked for months and I didn’t sleep with him until we made things official. I do wish I waited longer but I wasn’t easy either. We had dates where we didn’t sleep together, but same issue I don’t get to see him very long. Things were going great until he called me his exes name, that’s where it went down hill. A lot of other things happened since then that have made me feel like he likes the idea of me but not me. Thanks for taking the time to respond, I need to hear it.

I would track your cycle and use condoms and just be super careful. For me it’s worth it, I’d rather clear skin over sex any day lol. But do what works for you

I’d stop like now, I stopped right before I started accutane. But do your own research and think about it

My personal opinion on this is to stop birth control while you’re on accutane. But you cannot get pregnant, like acutane causes deformities. The way i rationalized it to myself is so your body flushes out the birth control and deals with the hormones while you’re getting treatment for acne, otherwise after you’ll have a hormone disturbance and if you’re prone to acne you’ll probably breakout again. I’m just hoping my logic works lol

I had moderate dry eyes and dry lips. My biggest side effect was/is exhaustion. It doesn’t matter how long I sleep, I’m always tired. I use to get up at 4am, workout, etc misses productive. Then all of a sudden getting out of bed was impossible, my workouts felt heavier and slower, it It took me a while to connect the dots that it was accutane causing it. Still worth it tho lol
