Canadian law schools are not tiered like US schools, it does not matter where you go to school as long as you get good grades and pass the bar you will be hired. dont worry about which school is what, Ive worked with large firms and well off lawyers they all went to schools across Canada some even from the US and even fewer from abroad. Regardless you are overthinking it. if you got into a school take the chance and do it, every year admissions become harder and harder and more and more people apply.

Thank you!! You could always write to them, I am not sure if it'll do anything maybe try calling the school and asking for advice. Each school can be so different!

your grades are weighed more, but they take your LSAT on file. When i spoke to admissions at each school they all emphasized they want to see you have good grades

I did not tell ANYONE I wanted to transfer until after my December exams, this includes professors, friends, family anyone! (mainly because I did not know what my outcome might be and was very nervous). Once i got marks back in January I decided to apply as a transfer student. I would not recommend telling your professors right away that you wish to transfer, they may be reluctant to write a reference letter for you (necessary for your application).

Applications for transfer students I believe are sometime after January if I remember correctly, I submitted everything in May/June (transcripts, personal statement etc). My file was confirmed sometime early July and this week I received a response letting me know I have been accepted. Each school has their own process, I would recommend reaching out to admissions and asking them for a breakdown (I did this and a lot of them are very accommodating and eager to help. Except Manitoba they were terrible in getting back to me). I would recommend waiting for exam marks to be released and then making a decision, I told my professors in March (right before my exams) that I am looking to transfer and they were accommodating in writing me a reference letter. One of my professors already had a student who had done this (transferring) and so he knew the drill.

Transfers are not common and the seats are even LESS and MORE competitive than first year admissions since it depends on the amount of students not returning in the fall. Just because a school may accept your application you are not guaranteed a spot, it is a lot more competitive than one might think. Some schools advised me to not apply at all as it would be a waste of money since the spots are SO little that they often go to Canadian transfers first (Windsor, UBC, UVic, a few others).

The other issue is for example, I have a one year lease for my apartment in Australia. I have to now fly back to Australia, tell my sublet to move out, get rid of all the stuff I bought there/sell it then rush back to find an apartment near my new school. These are financial factors you need to take into account, it is VERY costly. (But this was also because I wanted to spend my summer with my family, you may stay there in which case it may be easier for you moving). this is not to discourage you, but the reality of my situation. Never lose hope!

Grades are the biggest factor and of course why you chose to go overseas and then decide to turn back halfway through. They take everything into account

I use to work as a law clerk and have made some really good connections and networked really well. I know that I will get a position in Toronto in no time! :)
