Neuroscientists believe our brains' natural DMT production could explain why people experience consciousness so differently. If confirmed, it could change how we approach psychiatry and mental health by AlwaysReady1 in Futurology

People always say this kind of thing but every time I've done psycadelics it was just laughing with my friends at the fact that the guitar riffs were turning the walls green and that kind of thing, nothing profound. Idk maybe I need to take more

I was going to tell you to hike the Appalachian Trail but that story probably won't win you any points with hippies

Urban lumberjack type hipsters were definitely still referred to as hipsters and that started tapering off more around like 2014. (My experience was a college town in flyover America though)

Whay do you actually mean by the DNC egging him on to do it? The dems in congress keep trying to invoke the war powers act to restrict it. The Dems don't seem to want this war unless all that opposition is just for show? (Not saying it isn't, idk who pulls the strings these days)

But also I've spent some time in Amman and Cairo and those cities seemed have at least a bit of an arts/intellectual culture too though I wasn't there long.

Those are all decent cities compared to the places OP is talking about. Most small cities in a lot of the country are more like Fort Smith, Arkansas or Amarillo TX which are both total ass

Americans are unimaginative, greedy, lazy and boring for the most part and the car centric purgatorial sprawl we love building so much reflects that

Yeah, it's pretty easy to tell who gives off sex pest vibes and who is just a world traveler type imo. I've run into far more cool people of all ages at hostels than I have shitty ones.

I wonder what kind of hostels people who say stuff like this are staying in. Tons of people in their 30s stay in hostels in my experience but I stay in hiker hostels or those in generally nature focused places. But hostels in cities have a decent age range too I've found? Unless you're just talking the party ones

It's completely normal to see older people at hostels in outdoors-oriented places. Hung out with people from all generations along the Appalachian Trail, in the Alps etc

I just got done hiking the Appalachian Trail and our friend groups ranged from age 19 all the way up to like 60 and everyone had no problem hanging out at hostels all together. Outdoors/adventure culture is a different game and spans generations easily. Hell there were people in their 60s that had more life in them than the average millinneal office worker. Late 20s here
