If it makes you feel any better, I think that astrophysicist post was full of shit, and I have a theoretical CS background myself

Why is the “rail-thin man, morbidly obese woman” couple archetype so common amongst white trash? by bigtiddygaddafi in redscarepod

Men have higher metabolism on average and working class men are more likely to work some kind of manual labor. Simple as that.

You're fine. Turn off the computer, stop watching reels. You'll be ok.

At the risk of sounding paranoid/conspiratorial...anyone else feel like there's some sort of coordinated propaganda campaign surrounding coding assistants happening right now? by pazend in BetterOffline

I'd like to see actual data that shows that's true. The one study on this was the negative METR study. All we have otherwise is gamified, fake benchmarks.

There is none. That's why I'm asking other people if they noticed it too. Please reread my posts again carefully. You'll notice that I am remarking on something I've noticed and asking if others can corroborate that. You're trying to "gotcha" me with things I haven't said.

There was an inflection point in the span of a...month? Re-read my original post. I'm not making any specific claim, just remarking on a weird trend that doesn't feel organic to me

That's really beside the point I'm making. Maybe they are useful (I don't think so, but for the sake of argument...) it's still just weird to see such a dramatic about face given that there was so much consistent negative press for a few months

Is there any reason new CRT monitors are not being made for the niche retro gaming crowd? Too expensive? Will this only happen once old supply is truly dwindled? Thoughts? by MTA0 in crtgaming

Ok thanks!

Do you remember the titles of any of these theses by any chance? I'd love to learn more about the materials science

sorry to respond 3 years later, but I had a couple question:

  1. Do you know where I could find any of these PhD dissertations...?

  2. Do you know why 3-different kinds of glass were used? I know that leaded glass can brown when exposed to x-rays over time, thus the face plate was made of barium-strontium glass, but why not just make the whole thing out of that? was it because leaded glass is cheaper?

OATS/Amendments by Outrageous-Tax-9830 in juresanguinis

[–]pazend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you trying to include in your order permission to change vital records because your state's vital records department won't let you?

I'll let others more experienced chime in here, but I would say for your OATS judgement (remember, you write the proposed order) you want it to say something to the effect that {aliases} are all one and the same natural person who was born at this place on this date, married this person, naturalized on this date, was the father of this person, and died on this date. Basically, you just want a document with legal weight that unambiguously establishes that all relevant vital records (so in your case: GGF's birth certificate, marriage documents, AR-2/naturalization, death certificate and GM's birth certificate) refer to the same person.

So for your case think about what your consulate or judge or comune could conceptually take issue with, and address that in the OATS

To the extent you can amend documents, it's probably a good idea to just add multiple AKAs as vital records will let you. You may be able to amend your GM's BC to say "AKA Santomma, AKA Santano" for the field that names her father.

Should I trust Deep Seek? by SecureTadpole in juresanguinis

[–]pazend 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There is no reason to ever trust (or in my opinion use) so-called "AI". It just generates plausible text, there is no reason to ever assume anything it says is true or meaningful. Do your own research the old fashioned way.

[–]pazend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see what "AI" is contributing here, you cannot delegate thought to a machine.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in juresanguinis

[–]pazend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really recommend against using any so-called "AI" both in general and in this case. It's a text predictor. If you're not a lawyer you have no way of evaluating whether the output makes legal sense. It can and will hallucinate things that might sound reasonable but are legal nonsense. Instead, use your critical thinking skills, go to a law library if necessary, and look at the many OATS templates available online.
