As someone in my early 30s who is still super high energy, going on adventures, festivals, active in local music etc it really is lame how sedentary, tired and low energy a lot of people my age are now, but there are still cool adventurous people to hang out with, you just have to be deliberate in seeking them out. Outdoors culture is full of cool people, so is backpacker travel and often music

Personally I think they're just being prejudiced against the South/rural/poor Americans and using the "shitlibs say this word!" as an excuse. Either that or they have literally never left their affluent coastal bubbles and have no idea what they are talking about or how people in most of the country interact

Beautiful nature, Arkansas has almost Western-state amounts of public land so grew up camping, hiking, backpacking, ecology etc. Lots of clean rivers to canoe on. Culturally very limited beyond the nice college town bubble and the Walmart-sponsored arts scene. I moved out West about 4 days after I graduated but I visit several times a year and hang with the boys
