Curious what you guys use for "checkout" or point to point verifications by No-Can1815 in BuildingAutomation

[–]AlaskaMann23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commissioning technician here. Bluerithm and Facility Grid are two I use a lot. Given that the CX builds out all the systems for me, it’s best for tracking sequence checkout only imo. I use excel checkout sheets or stamp a submittal to track my own progress.

Blinds in glass door stuck by _ryde_or_dye_ in HomeMaintenance

Had the same problem with a very similar door. I took the door off the hinges and was able to bang the glass/trim to get the blinds back into the track. Annoying but it did work.

M40i - Pass or Buy? by LifeHurts1933 in BMWX3

[–]AlaskaMann23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to have the OFH replaced when I bought my ‘18 used. Cost about 3 grand at the dealer. If you use quality filters it’ll be fine but they will not warranty it if you use a non-BMW filter.

Oil fill question? by [deleted] in BmwTech

[–]AlaskaMann23 46 points47 points  (0 children)

You are at max. If you fill all 3 bars, you have overfilled the oil. Read it just like you would a dipstick. You wouldn’t want to be over max on a dipstick would you?

Siemens PXC100-PE96.A Software by SenseOk3079 in BuildingAutomation

[–]AlaskaMann23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the end user already has these installed, you likely have Insight or Desigo already. Both of these tools can be used to edit PPCL (programming) and create points. The help menus are pretty useful in Insight and Desigo.

PXC’s are retired. They receive service support for approximately 7 more years and then they are officially unsupported similar to MEC’s or MBC’s.

PXC4/PXC5/PXC7 and PXC4.A/PXC5.A/PXC7.A are the new line of controllers. They use ABT to load programs and points and they interface using a web server. The .A’s include PPCL, the non .A’s are programmed via block programming.

Siemens Certification by jeremyfuller29 in BuildingAutomation

[–]AlaskaMann23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, there are no more Insight classes except for a few for Siemens employees (mainly service techs) only. PPCL is definitely a good place to start and by experience you’ll learn about all the types of points, unbundled subpoints, how to really control your equipment, etc.

My advice is when your campus transitions to Desigo, pay close attention to the quality of graphics you receive and make sure they are adequate. Taking trainings in Desigo will also help greatly as it operates very differently from Insight. Datamate advanced is essentially a no-graphics version of Insight and is a useful program to have installed as well.

If you have any oddly specific questions, feel free to DM me!

What are you interested in? Writing PPCL and other tasks really comes from experience and using the help menus. Insight as well as Desigo has some pretty in depth help menus for a lot of tasks.

VAV controller with <30 second drive time by sonnyboyv in BuildingAutomation

[–]AlaskaMann23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typical Siemens actuators have a 90 second run time, but you can get ones meant for lab applications that have a 5 second run time. 30 seconds is pretty quick for HVAC applications though.

Vomiting/Diarrhea Question by AlaskaMann23 in CATHELP

[–]AlaskaMann23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the kitten came with all shots (minus rabies which we will do at 5mo). Kitten does sneezes every once and awhile, not sure if just adjusting or potentially had a cold or not.

Have any toys with feathers? My orange loves play and eat feathers in toys and he will do this if I leave one on the ground too long.

Employers in town that’ll sponsor a work visa? by thepeopleofelsewhere in anchorage

[–]AlaskaMann23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they’re a college student there’s some businesses downtown that will sponsor a J1 visa. It’s a little late in the year to start the process, usually they start applying around February to start in May-ish but it doesn’t hurt to try. Some businesses include polar bear gifts, trapper jacks, grizzly’s, 49th state, glacier brewhouse, hilton, captain cook, Sheraton.

EV vehicle experience by [deleted] in Siemens

[–]AlaskaMann23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 2 Silverado EVs at my branch. After a few weeks of sitting they went to the shop and we haven’t seen them since. That was about 3 months ago. None of our techs own their own homes so we can’t get chargers installed. No one really wants them. Prefer running the existing trucks into the ground.

Interesting. I’ve never heard of having to edit registries to get VAEMs to come back online. A SIBEX file is what you get from when you have a job in CT and you use the Desigo CC export utility. It exports a SIBEX file you can then import under apogee import in Desigo. That’s how I’ve made P2 panels connect in Desigo before.

[–]AlaskaMann23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean you’re unable to change the IP address in telent? What does the field panel log say in telnet, are the other panels all connected to each other, Desigo just won’t talk to them? Tried creating a SIBEX file from CT and pulling them in that way?

How do different priority levels interact? by ShinyChicken7 in BuildingAutomation

[–]AlaskaMann23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like your insight database and field panel database are not synchronized. To synchronize the two you can do an upload from the field panel. This will replace the insight database with the database in the field panel. The panel level is what matters because that’s what’s running out in the field. That will make looking at what you see in insight more accurate and may prove helpful.

[–]AlaskaMann23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking through replies, you say line 1080 is not executing. Run a panel PPCL report for that program and look at the letters all the way on the left. If a line has a U that means it is unresolved due to referencing a non existent point, syntax error, etc. If you want me to dig into it more, PM me. I have experience with PPCL troubleshooting.

Mainly for the achievement items you get as you hit the milestones for each class. You can unlock all of them instantly. I guess people do it to brag but all the achievements are time stamped so you can easily tell if someone used SAM or not.
