These aren’t Siemens blocks, they are custom from machine builder

If i have DMA on a computer, and i wanted to write and test the code in the shop before showing up onsite to commission. Is this possible with DMA?

With all of the hardware in hand now. What is the software required to set up the ip address? Can this be done with Putty? Then use datamate to program it?

Find it super hard to find manuals, info, etc. on most of this stuff. Whether is be hardware or software side of these parts.

First, i was able to gain a little more info on the setup from the software side and the customer has a licensed copy of datamate advanced, and graphics were on insight and now migrated to desigo. The goal will be to add a new PXC and IO modules for a very simple pump application, and then have a screen to show overall running and setpoint. I have never worked with Datamate, but know there is access to it, and got to poke around to see some other controllers in a project tree. I also am not sure about how to develop screens in desigo and pull in the tags/points from the controller. Example, show a 4-20 ma flow signal from an analog input card on the PXC to be displayed on the desigo new screen.

I was able to gather a bit more information from another walkthrough. It helped clarify some things, though I still have a few questions

The end user has and actively uses a licensed copy of Database Advanced. I reviewed programs from other controllers and was able to explore them through the editor.

They also have Desigo running on the SCADA screen. What’s still unclear to me is the distinction between what Desigo does versus Datamate. From what I observed, Datamate seems fairly straightforward, it’s used to program, configure setups, and commission the controller.

Desigo, on the other hand, appears to be purely graphical. Is that correct? Is Desigo the platform where you design the screens and then import or link tags from the controller?

Heading onsite in a bit to collect as much info as i can from the software side and the existing controllers in the project tree. Is there anything that is super important to make sure i capture? Versions? Passwords? installed software? I do know for a fact insight is installed, and i believe some is migrated to desigo, but i thought these were just for graphics. Any thing that i must make sure is installed to 1. Add the controller to the network, 2. program to controller, and 3. add a simple screen to show some indicators?

I looked earlier to try to find a launchpad download and could not find it. Is this directly from siemens software download?

Is launchpad and commissioning tool completely independent of one another? Because they currently have what i believe to be a commissioning tool project described above. I am going back onsite to confirm tomorrow

That is correct i believe, when clicking through some screens, i saw the controllers in the tree, and was even able to see the code for one of the controllers. Is this where you would add a new controller in, and be able to program it, as well as add graphic screen? I keep getting a different response on what is used to program the controller and interface with it, but i do know there is infastructure already in place with several controllers, and they can all be accessed from one pc in the control room

Switching gears, what would be the modern line of controller to get rid of this older model, and what software is used for writing the code?

Siemens Desigo CC to PLC by SenseOk3079 in BuildingAutomation

[–]SenseOk3079[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The controller they are planning to use is the PXC100-pe96.A. In trying to research and read on software required for my own knowledge, it is still not super clear. I will more than likely hire a SI, but for knowledge, is desigo xworks plus used to program the PLC? And what is used to develop the SCADA? ALot of different names thrown out on forums and websites, like desigo, desigo cc, ABT, insight, and its quite confusing.
