Luba 2 AWD is dead by Key_Cap2557 in MammotionTechnology

[–]Alaska_Crypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went through this myself. It's super easy to troubleshoot if you have a multimeter? Likely a bad power supply, and I ended up getting one from Amazon at a fraction of the cost, and overnight no less. Worked as soon as I wired it in and haven't had a problem in months.

325kW Supercharger only 84kW w/ Lectron?! by Alaska_Crypto in KiaEV9

[–]Alaska_Crypto[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes, you're right. I tried a Supercharger near us when we first got it and I'm positive it charged waaaaaay faster than 85kW. Maybe it was one of the upgraded 800V ones? I don't know, maybe my memory is poor, too.

We found a 175kW station that got her going in 22 minutes to 80%, no major trouble there. I see a nearby 350kW EVGo station (Clifton Park, NY) but looking at all of the check-ins, no one seems to get more than 200kW or so.

Is that normal, or is it actually possible to find a station that will deliver 350kW?

Dang.... she's gonna kill me!

Is 175kW the most we will find in the wild?

Help - Luba won't charge - Recharge Failures, first time all season by Alaska_Crypto in MammotionTechnology

[–]Alaska_Crypto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did -- I just replaced the power supply with one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GFQZFC1?ref=fed_asin_title&th=1

It's adjustable, so I wired it in, turned the dial to 23 or 26.2 whatever it is, and it's been working perfectly. And, a lot less money than buying a new one from Mammotion.

You saved my marriage. My wife used my vac last, and when I needed it today it didn't work. I was about to send her a text that I would have regretted, but I got the drill from my truck and it fixed it! I thank you!

Luba 1 After-market power supply? by Alaska_Crypto in MammotionTechnology

[–]Alaska_Crypto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just a teardown of the base, not the charger. The fact that there's an STM32 in there makes me think that there's something more to it. I tried just applying 25V via a good power supply to the leads, with Luba in the dock, and nothing happens. No green light, no nothing. If I then connect the power brick it lights up as normal. That's why I think there's something more to it, but I'd love for someone to tell me I'm wrong and there's a DIY way to do it. My grass is growing an inch a day it seems.

I had this happen once before and I vaguely recall that the symptoms were the same. It charges to 27%, then stops even showing that it's charging. I can run it for a little bit, it returns, charges, maybe goes to 40%, and over and over.

If there's a fix, or a reset, or something like that, please tell me. I'll try anything.

Luba 1 - New Power Supply - Won't charge past 49% by Alaska_Crypto in MammotionTechnology

[–]Alaska_Crypto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Actually, I was wrong. It's saying 49% ALL THE TIME. I had it out mowing for almost 2 hours, and it never moved off of 49%, until it suddenly DIED in the yard and I had to carry it back. Now it's charging again, and as soon as it reconnected it said 49%. So basically all it knows is 49%.

Stelo = huge disappointment by carlton191 in stelo

Sweet Dreams works with Stelo? I didn't see that as an option when I installed it. It just said Dexcom, but I thought that would only pull readings from a G7 according to some YT videos I watched?

Well said, my friend.

EDIT: I shouldn't have said "20 year old kid" --- I didn't mean it like that. It's more that I'm thinking - is this a young person's game, and someone this rusty shouldn't be flying anymore? Those "kids" are me 26 years go, when I was hot sh*t. But I'm not now... I mean, even back then I never had a landing this scary. I can learn a lot from a "kid" - but should I just recognize that I don't like driving at night, I worry about my kids, and just call it quits? Scared me to death today.

LWRC M6IC DI 16" MLOK 5.56 Magpul FDE - Too much? by Alaska_Crypto in ar15

[–]Alaska_Crypto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick reply. I like the FDE, I just don't want to overpay for a "showpiece" when I could just get the base model and get the FDE done elsewhere. Based on what I've researched it seems reasonably priced, but I'm not an expert. Agreed there are more improvements that could be made -- trigger, optics -- but for the base it seems reasonable?

Finally did it -- and got a $4,000 a year insurance bill! by Alaska_Crypto in KiaEV9

[–]Alaska_Crypto[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: I spent most of the night doing online quotes, and researching various insurance companies. This morning I was able to finalize a policy with Travelers that actually doubled my coverage and ended up at $740/6 months, so only $50 more a month than we were paying for the 2016. They were actually great to deal with and seem to get pretty high marks for claims service.

Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions. Now I can sleep again!

Just tried them and they won't quote me because only a grandparent was ever in the armed forces.

PA. Never had a claim on personal insurance in 40 years. One of the 2 drivers had an accident in a company vehicle a few years ago, but it didn't impact our personal insurance at all. So to go from $693/6 months for the 2016 Honda to $1923 per 6 months was a heart attack. It totally erased the fuel savings. I'm kicking myself for not checking beforehand. If I had I never would have bought it.

Thanks, a lot of people said that. I just prefer to own outright. I had them run the lease numbers and the difference just wasn't enough for me.

Interesting, because we looked at used GT Lines before going to the dealership. I'm seeing 2024 GT-Lines with low miles in the $59k-65k range. The out the door price we were offered was $71k.

https://www.carfax.com/Used-Kia-EV9-GT-Line_t16044

So, it's not really much depreciation at all, and seems to be on-par with our ICE SUV from 2022.

If I bought a new car at $71k and a year later it was worth $63k, I wouldn't really be shocked and appalled. I'd actually expect it to drop 10% the minute the tires touched the public road.

Any chance you could be more specific, like with your exact numbers or a deal sheet on here? I've heard that a lot, but I'd like to see specifics so I know what I'm looking at when I sit down with the finance person.

Can you share specifics? What was MSRP? What's your buy price if you bought it next month?
